After reading the reviews, I was expecting something fantastic. The beach was nice. There were some rocks and other debris in the water. I came across the neck of a broken glass bottle. I also came across a jagged rusty bottom of a can. Other than that we did have a nice time. more

Like everyone else says, it's a beautiful beach. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. It's amazingly clean. There is NO beach debris on it at all, save for a tiny amount of seashells, a few rocks, and some twigs. No driftwood, no beach glass, no trash. I'm not sure where it goes! Rocks? Sure, Oval Beach Rocks. But Oval Beach doesn't HAVE rocks. I think I could count the number of rocks on Oval Beach in about 10 minutes. Blindfolded. Safely. Most of them lie near the old channel entrance, which isn't technically part of the "public" swimming beach anyway. I don't know where the "Watch out for the rocks" statement comes... more

Oval beach is nice but this year the sandy beach has turned all rocky. There are both big and smaller rocks on the shore and into the water about 20 feet out. I love Oval Beach. The sandy beach is right next to the parking. It's extremely clean and peaceful. I work 51 weeks a year in anticipation of the week I'll spend at Oval Beach every year. more

It is so nice to have these types of places in America, where not only are they clean and beautiful, but so accepting of everyone. Don't take the advice of 'Grand Rapids' ... you don't have to 'hide' here. Oval Beach is awsome! Besides the great sand and water, Oval Beach made the top 10 list of best gay beaches in the world! The sunsets are beautiful. I'd recommend this beach to anyone, but if your close-minded/ignorant skip this one because there's plenty of affection, both straight and gay, as well as a liberal clothing policy. more
