This is a neat spot to take the kids for a nice carousel ride. The people working there are very friendly and really into the history of the carousel. It was really nice and the kids enjoyed the ride.

The Silver Beach Carousel is an amazing ride. All carousel characters are hand carved and hand painted, creating a carousel this is superior to most. Located just steps away from Lake Michigan and just across the street from a great splash fountain, they each offer a fun time for all.

This carousel is a must see! I am from this area and I never get tired of seeing it. It is an asset to the city and I get a kick of seeing peoples reaction to it. Young and old-wide eyed and trying to really take in how spectacular it really is! You will spend time with your family and... More

Even at the height of tourist season there is always room for one more. Our granddaughter's favorite character is the peacock that rocks. Our grandson likes "Sparty" the Michigan State University horse.

It's enclosed so don't let bad weather scare you away - there is also a Kid's Museum on the property as well as a history display of the area in the 40's - worth the trip.

The carousel is so much fun for the kids. They also hand out silly hats you can wear when riding the carousel. My kids love having some popcorn or playing board games and just hanging out.

Most carousel horses look "fake." These look REAL. As a kid, I remember being thrilled that there was no "handhold;" you actually had to RIDE the horse. (My parents weren't too thrilled at that, but then again, I DID have 3-1/2 years of horseback riding, albeit English saddle! I was thrilled to hear that it had been found and restored.

I took my Brother and Sister in law to the carousel this summer. She grew up in St Joe and my Brother actually wept to see the beauty of the restored carousel and the memoribilia that transported them back 50 years to their childhood and happy memories spent at Silver Beach and Lake Michigan! It was a fabulous day and... More
