This was a half mile, sometimes steep climb to the Summit. It's a good thing there are benches to rest on occasionally, but a nice view of the Porkies over the tree tops! Bring your binoculars with.

What an amazing view! The hike was exhausting - then the viewing tower - are you kidding - but the view is beautiful!

The most strenuous part of the hike is at the beginning. It goes up quickly. However, it starts to level off and then stairs and boardwalks make it easier to get to the tower. The tower is made of wood and I found it sturdy for my 285 pound frame. Great views and a cool breeze at top. Don't forget... More

We did a loop hike and went up the last half mile more as an afterthought but the view was worth the extra effort. There was fog on Lake Superior close to shore but you could see the water further out. It was clear inland and the view was excellent. I would love to be here on a clear fall... More

This is a great hike with a great view. However, you should be warned that the hike there is half a mile long and all uphill. It also includes quite a few stairs. When you get to the top of the tower, if it is hazy do not assume you cannot see the lake. It sometimes takes experience, looking closely,... More

The hike was a bit long but worth it. The tower view was great! Made for good picture taking! Loved the little chipmunks running around!

The tower in a gorgeous place to look out for miles. I'm sure the view is stunning in the fall with the colors. Thinking of hiking to a cabin in the future. Love the Porkies. Great hiking without having to go all the way out west.

From the parking area, it is a short half mile hike up to the top of Summit Peak. Along the way, you will see breathtaking views of the Porcupine Mountain Range. Be sure to stop at Summit Peak while visiting the Porkies.

It was a bit of a hike up hill and a good number of steps but so worth it! The view was spectacular!

I can only imagine how beautiful this place is in the Fall. The peak is amazing. What a view. I was surprised at the amount of tourist on a cold and rainy day.
