Very relaxing and beautiful day (before the rain)

What a fun way to see Tahquamenon Falls. Rode on a 25 guage train (not the most comfortable but scenery beautiful) and then a riverboat down the river to the falls. The Captain... read more

My family and I (2 kids ages 2 and 4, grandparents from both sides, aunts & uncles, & little cousins) took this tour on a beautiful, if somewhat cool, late July day. I went on this tour as a young child and had been looking forward to taking my kids. It was pretty much everything I remembered. It was a... More

Cory, Thank you for taking the time to give us this awesome review. We are so happy that your family had a good time on the tour. We were sorry to hear that the weather was a bit cool that day. The U.P.'s weather is often unpredictable and this summer was no exception. It was unfortunate that the stairs at... More

What a fun way to see Tahquamenon Falls. Rode on a 25 guage train (not the most comfortable but scenery beautiful) and then a riverboat down the river to the falls. The Captain was a wealth of information about the area, wildlife, trees and plants, etc. The hike to the falls was a bit much for someone out of shape!... More

Our family was very happy to hear that you enjoyed our tour. How fantastic that you got a glimse of the bears. Thank you for taking the time to review us. Just a small correction, the train is a 24 inch gauge (or sometimes called 2 foot gauge). It is the longest, and one of the oldest lines, of this... More

John Sorry the weather was a bit on the cool side when you joined us on the tour. That's fall in the U.P. for you. Thank you for the complement on our homemade chili. Were so glad you enjoyed it. More

lets us get a few things straight the host has no control over the weather they have no control over the wildlife and they aren't working for free. some people were upset they did not see a bear my suggestion make a donut and froot loop suit cover that suit with honey and wander into the wilderness and yougi bear... We are happy to know that you understand about challenges of running a business such as ours. We are at the mercy of mother nature and sometime she can be a bit rough. I sorry you felt rushed at the falls. Normally the 1 hour and 15 minute stopover give everyone plenty of time. We do hope you pay us... More

Staff was great , captain in boat seem to know his stuff w the up and animals. But it was very very cold. They advertised it would be enclosed after labor day and there were a rude group of people who took the 12 tables or so and not giving it up for ppl who really wanted to be comfortable... More

First I want to say that I am very sad that those passengers were so rude to you. Sometimes people like that shake my faith in mankind. You have a valid point about our description saying enclosed boat and train. Changes will be made for next season so that will no longer be a misconception. Thank you for bringing that... More

If you like nature this is a must trip for you. The overall trip is a bit long but very enjoyable. The trolley takes about thirty minutes to get to the boat, and once on board you can enjoy a nice boat ride to the falls. The captain of the boat was very informative about the history of the area,wildlife,and... More

I caught this train in Soo Junction, Michigan, located 2 miles north of M-28, in the center of the UP. The train takes you on a ride through approximately five miles of narrow railroad through the forested habitat of Michigan's upper peninsula wildlife: deer, birds, an occasional black bear. When you arrive at the Tahquamenon River, an actual riverboat is... More

Thank you for your glowing review. Our family works hard to bring passengers the best wilderness experience possible. We are pleased you enjoyed the tour. I just want to point out that we open in mid June each season and run into early October. Thanks again. More

It was nice but very, very long. To costly too. We were packed in and had some pretty bold people on board. Didn't like to be stuck behind people smoking on the walk to the falls. Kind of disappointed. Wanted to see more wildlife. Only saw birds. On the good side, the captain on the ship was very informative and... More

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the commentary on the boat and the service your received from the ticket agent . Our rates are very much in line with similar tours. There has not been a price increase in 3 years. I am sorry you felt packed in. Our capacity of the riverboat is 250 but there were... More

My wife and I decided on this day trip after spotting their flyer at our campground. The weather was lovely for an extended riverboat ride and then a little more than half-mile hike to the falls. To say that the trip is fully narrated is an understatement. The captain shared a great wealth of knowledge on the Taquamenon River, its... More

We are so happy that you enjoyed the tour. Your correct about the top bow deck is the best viewing spot. The Captain works hard at his narration. He will be pleased to hear how much you enjoyed it. I'm glad you visited us after the bottom view stairway was repaired and you got to see the full front view... More

We wanted to love this but it just took up a whole day and the kids were getting bored. It was a very long day and we had traveled a long way to get there. The hiking to the falls was the best part. A lot of scenery and no animals... It would have been better if it was only... More

Thank you for your review. I'm sad to hear that you thought the trip was too long for your children. The best time of our season for animal sightings is mid June through late August. Once the hunting seasons open in September the animals tend to go on a nighttime routine or, as with birds, begin their migration. We do... More
