This is a great state park for families. It has wonderful trails to walk and great sand dunes to climb! Walking along the shore is beautiful and great for taking pictures. The beach is very nice and I look forward to coming back.

I' m from Ohio and stay at several state parks. Hoffmaster not so much different from Ohio State Parks. One big difference, one bathhouse for the whole park....but ya no what? The Cleanest of all parks I've ever Been too. Hats off to the cleaning crew. Draw back, our first night we were sitting around the fire about 11:30pm just... More

Very nice beach, gorgeous walk through the woods to get there. It was pretty crowded, but still plenty of room to sit comfortably.

We camped Monday thru Friday and found the campground along the rest of the park to be very clean. Bathrooms and grounds were well maintained. Plenty of beach for the weekday crowds. In the event you want to get away, Muskegon, Grand Haven, and many smaller communities are within a 15 minute drive. My only complaint is the lack of... More

I have never camped here, but but often go hike the trails and enjoy the beach. Gorgeous park. Lots of wildlife, if you are quiet and look.

Very clean, sand is like powder. Water was calm and clean. Can't wait to go back! We only went to the beach, didn't drive through the camping area. Not too crowded at all, maybe 20 people on the entire beach so it was nice and quiet.

I would skip the 100+ stair climb to dune and Lake Michigan overlooks. the trees are so overgrown that you can't see much. The beaches and hikes are nice.

Pros: Beautiful beaches and hiking trails.
Cons: No alcohol, you’ll pay for electric whether you want it or not. Stopped in for a short one-nighter during the first week of June 2014. Frankly was not expecting any vacancies, maybe something right next to the bathroom, but we lucked out. The layout of the park seemed a bit weird. The visitor... More

Very nice private beach within campground. Close to grand haven and Muskegon. Decent amenities can be crowded. Very beautiful and relaxing area of south west Michigan.

The main beach area is not very big and I can imagine it would be crowded on weekends. We went there on a weekday and it was not busy and we were easily able to find a secluded spot away from the main beach. The water was very cold as you might expect in early June but a few people... More
