Simply a beautiful piece of the Michigan shoreline. I used to live down the street from here, there is no place else like the shoreline in Michigan State Parks! We just went back there a few weeks ago, can't wait to go again.

This is the finest Michigan State Park that we have visited. All facilities are updated, clean, and well maintained! The park is heavily wooded, and the beach was a moderate walk (but well worth it)! The water was COLD, but this is Lake Michigan . . .

For a day pass, they wanted to charge $9, and we just wanted to drive through the park. :( we skipped paying and left the park.

Based on some recommendations from friends, I made a reservation at Hoffmaster State Park for the first week in August. Was somewhat concerned with close proximity to large city (Muskegon) but that was unfounded. Park is beautiful, very well maintained and staffed by friendly people. Restrooms were very well maintained and are fairly new. Beach is great, and the walk... More

Stayed here for 2 weekend nights in Aug. Great facilities: free hot showers, camp hosts , weekend coffee, electricity, good fire rings, LOTS OF TREES, reasonably quiet, very short walk to private beach on Lake Michigan, very clean and well maintained, firewood available at fair prices, dogs allowed. Good hiking, beautiful creek and spectacular sand beaches. Bought our firewood outside... More

We have been coming to this campground for the past three years and it is our favorite! It is clean and quiet with many nicely wooded sites. There is no alcohol allowed so it is nice for families. The campground has a great playground for kids. You can hike the dunes from the campground to spend the day on lake... More

Spent most of the day at the beach! Very clean, nice bathrooms to change in, etc. You can even borrow a life jacket down near the water area!

This review is primarily for the cg. I wouldn't call this wilderness camping as you can see dozens of other campers from your site, but it is clean, very family friendly and relatively quiet at night. Pay attention to where your site is located- mine was B2 (tent only)- turned out to back up to the main park road which... More
