A beautiful stretch of white sandy beach that provides many opportunities for exploration. Usually much quieter than either Grand Haven or Muskegon but be sure to bring your own food and drinks if you desire

Great hiking, wonderful views of the lake and sand dunes. Very long beach allows for long walks alongside the lake.

Love this place. It is clean and quiet and is a really nice campground. My family and I have been here at least 6 times over the past few years and all of us really enjoy it. It is a great family campground. It is well maintained, there is no alcohol and there is an enforced curfew quiet time so... More

I live nearby and have camped and day hiked there many times. Beautiful beach and dunes. Dune hiking is excellent and can take you to more remote beach areas. The Nature Center is decent with a lot of information on sand dune ecosystem and big lake (lake Michigan) information. Very good slide show there. Not a great place to camp.... More

This is a great state park on Lake Michigan. Lots of open space, and during bumper seasons is very enjoyable with often just a moderate number of people. I have attended yoga class here which was really fun, put on by a local yoga instructor. Very family friendly, picnic tables & restrooms.

Great campground. The staff can be sticklers about somethings, but our overall stay was pleasant. Good access to the beach from the campground and the public beach area is separate from the campground beach area, which is nice. Keeps the crowds down. Restrooms were very clean.

This state park offers much to do. Whether you camp, swim, hike, snowshoe, cross county ski, or just want to walk and enjoy the beach this is the place to go. There is something to do in any season at the park and the Gillette Nature Center is a must to visit especially if you have family. Come once and you... More

We liked the paths under the trees, which were in maximum color when we visited. And the shoreline was very accessible. We also like Sleeping Bear Dunes, but you get much easier beach access at Hoffmaster

There is a nice nature center here as well as many nice hiking trails that our grandchildren love. The beach is usually not very busy.
