The staff are so friendly and helpful, we did the self tour and took about 1 & 1/2 hours to look around. They have done a great job at restoring the ship and it really gives you a good idea of how it would have been to travel into WWll. The wall of local military men who had died in... More

PROS: ample parking; affordable price; entertaining 2 hour stop; interesting compartments inside the ship; the outside of the ship definitely is more photogenic than the interior; A definite must see if you have seen and been inside aircraft carriers, battleships, tankers; Be sure to see the USS Silversides as well. You can see the effort the people have placed to... More

Amazed at the display and knowledge of an all volunteer staff dedicated to preserving this piece of history. Make sure to put this on your list of things to do

We went on a self guided tour of this ship. It was like walking back in time! There is a lot to see, adults will enjoy it more than the kids, but the kids had a lot of fun too. We got to explore all of the decks, including the engine room, which I would avoid if you are Closter... More

What a cool ship for our two preschoolers to visit. They loved touring the ship. We very much enjoyed it.

The USS LST 393 and crew participated in D-Day, moving military equipment and men, Making some 30 runs to the beaches in Normandy. The ship was also used in other significant military campaigns as well. I have great respect for the men and women who served in the armed forces, especially during the great wars. When touring the ship, you... More

Very interesting to be able to step foot on a ship that is one of the few remaining landing vessels from D-Day. They have done a very nice job restoring this piece of history. It is a self guided tour, but they give you a booklet to explain all the areas you visit. Something everyone should see at least once!

LST 393 is one of the very few remaining examples of a Landing Ship Tank. My interest came because my Dad served on one during WW11 in the South Pacific. The ship has been faithfully restored and would be of interest to anyone seeking our military heritage. During the Summer they show free movies on deck. Tonight is going to... More

We did not have to pay admission since there was a veteran's job fair going on. We weren't there for that. It was a little disappointing since much of it was blocked. But it looks very well put together and that there are some great volunteers in there.....
