Visited the ship on a loverly sunny morning, to find friendly and warm staff on arrival. The ships interior has been fitted with relics on this greats ships campaignes. The main interior landing space has a series on exhibits from Ww2 era having seen action during operation overlord in France. The ship has seen action in more than this conflict... More

Muskegon is so lucky to have this historical ship and the SS Sivlersides. If you live anywhere near and haven't been here, please go. It will give you more of an appreciation for what the WW II soldiers endured.

A visit to Muskegon is well worth it to visit one of the great monuments of the Second World War. It is vessel designed to ferry and land tanks and trucks from the sea to the land. LST 393 was used at Normandy on June 6, 1944 and open to the public on the waterfront just west of downtown Muskegon.... More

My wife and I were invited on board for a cocktail party and found ourselves ignoring the open bar to spend time looking at all the "stuff" contributed by WWII veterans who had either served on this ship (which is enormous, BTW) and exploring every inch of the ship -- which is completely open to visitors. Great reminder for those... More

Touring the LST 393 was not my idea -- I just went along with the group and had very low expectations. Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised AND I learned a lot! I also couldn't believe I spent almost 3 hours and was NOT bored. It was really very interesting. Take the time to watch the 'LST Trainng... More

My husband's dad served on an LST during WWII, as a pharmacy mate. He passed away a long time ago, so this experience was profoundly meaningful. Seeing how his dad lived and worked - imagining him helping wounded service people in the sick bay - imagining landing on the beach during D-Day. His dad didn't ever speak of his WWII... More

The USS LST 393 is a great place to take the kids and learn about history. The ship is very open and you get to tour almost every room. There are a lot of great WWII artifacts on-board so it has a lot to offer as a museum for history buffs. The ship is kept in excellent condition, you can... More

Incredible ship and piece of history but more importantly a memorial to those who served and sacrificed. The ship is in incredible shape and restored to her appearance at the time of D Day. Many interesting exhibits and artifacts abound and I would highly recommend a visit.

Spent about 3 hours checking out the entire ship. If you want to see everything plan for a few hours. There are a lot of steps and some are very steep so this isn't for everyone. However the main floor does have a lot to see and no steps.

I went during the Train/toy show that was on the ship and a Friday night movie on the deck. It is very interesting to read and see everything that ship has to offer with WW II history. The movie's on the deck are fun to see on select Friday nights. A great place for fun and a little piece of... More
