No trip to Muskegon is complete until we have gone to Pere Marquette Park and walked along the breakwater. I grew up in Muskegon and Pere Marquette Park is so much a part of my life. We used to have family reunions on the beach, Sunday picnics with family, lots of wonderful hours spent swimming in Lake Michigan, playing volleyball,... More

Was expecting more of a park vibe (hiking, picnicking etc) was pretty much just a beach. We did take the walkway out to the little lighthouse which was nice. Would definitely go back with the kids.

A very large, clean, and beautiful beach on Lake Michigan with a pier to walk and a playground. There is a place to change and even a little rinsing station to get the sand off your feet. All of this and it's free! Very well worth the trip.

What is not to like? Very clean beach; very safe beach; also, a nice picnic/park area with playground and bathrooms. The channel walk allows hikers a sidewalk area to walk the full length of the channel from Lake Michigan to Muskegon Lake. Large freighters, sailboats, and all sizes of personal craft are in the channel at any given moment. Be... More

This is a really nice place. They have a nice play escape for kids, a large beach and a path to a lighthouse out on the lake. The sand is nice but the water was FREEZING cold so only my brave water obsessed niece went in. I think she was the only one on the beach in the water. We... More

This is a wonderful beach on Lake Michigan in Muskegon. The sand is fantastic. Offers playgrounds and picnic areas. A new restaurant open right on the beach. Take a walk on the breakwater out to the lighthouse. Just enjoy!

This huge, public beach is NOT a crowded, resort owned, fee charging, tourist trap. I've lived in Muskegon all my life and have heard people from many towns on Lake Michigan brag about their beaches. Most of those beaches are in State Parks (fees) or crowded or tiny because of private ownership of the land on Lake Michigan. At Pete... More
