Best beach on Lake Michigan

This beach was so clean and so big. It felt like we were in Florida, not Michigan. The water was freezing but it was fine to dip our feet in. The beach wasn't crowded at all. The water was crystal clear and so calm. Smooth sand, no rocks...nothing like the beaches further south. The walk on the pier to the lighthouse... More

Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon, MIchigan is a spectacular huge beach on Lake Michigan. There is a pier that you can walk out on, which extends out on Lake Michigan for about 1/4 mile. The beach is sugar sand and great for sun-bathing and making sand castles. You can watch the sailboats, sun-bathe, and can even rent a paddle-board! Next... More

What a great experience to visualize the awesome beauty of this grand great lake. The pier provides a grand view of the beach and Lake Michigan and is well kept and very impressive. I was thinking of how important this lighthouse was years ago, before automated navigation, to the ships, both large and small, in finding their way to the... More

Loved this place, clean and well maintained. Water is clear, sand is as soft as it could be. Walkway into the lake is awesone and give a perfect picture spot to the beach from water side, without being in the water.

Love the beach, love the area. It isn't very warm, so don't plan on going and having a 'beach time' but wonderful for couples who want a quiet time at the beach/lake/waterfront. HOWEVER...come prepared. Nothing to eat/drink/ or visit while you're there.

Pere Marquette has a restaurant and bathrooms, some play equipment and piers to walk on. However, it will never be as nice or well populated as the Grand Haven area, due to the people in Muskegon who just want it left alone. If you want to simply go to the beach, it's a good choice. But if you're looking for... More

I loved everything about this park. The beach is amazing and clean,it has a large number of kids play areas, and it's free (unlike Muskegon state park). Moreover, it has an amazing restaurant ("The Deck") right next to it.

The beach is very large so lots of room. It rivals any ocean beach front. Restrooms and small food vendor building. Another restaurant near beach. Pier is an enjoyable walk and channel close so you can boat watch on nice summer days. Water is clear and refreshing for swimming. Water temps can be unpredictable. Most days refreshing but it can...
