Un endroit à visiter et apprécier. .... A very interesting and remarkable little museum - even my wife (who doesn't particularly warm to military history) thought it very goo. The building itself was originally a wine cellar and during WWII, local people took refuge there when Turckheim was shelled by the Allies. It contains a lot of interesting military and... More

For a small town this was a great museum. The audio guide was well paced and brought all the artefacts to life. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My tip: pay the 2€ for the audio guide!

This is a small, interesting and well put together museum depicting the history behind WWII in the Alsace (colmar) area. It mainly told of what the civilians had to endure and of their liberation. A fee of €4 per person + €2 per person for English audio quite. Well worth the money.

The best thing about this museum is the Audio-Guide which you must have and it gives a really good commentary. The Battle (World War II) of the Colmar Pocket was important and the museum gives a good impression of what live would be like at the time.

Explains the history behind WW II in this area. The destruction was amazing. They had a lot of both German and Allied items such as guns, helmets, etc. It cost 3 euros per person, a deal! Ask for the English audio guide or the English written explanation.

Only complaint is it's on the small side. Really cool artifacts and displays otherwise. Take your time and ask about things, they're are very helpful.

It is worth to visit this small museum and this in family just to get eyes open on the terrible moments Europe had to go through and mostly the civilians ... Let us hope that this will never happen again ...

I had no idea that the 'Colmar Pocket' was the site of a three-week operation during the Second World War, between January and February, 1945. Because it took place in the disputed region of Alsace-Lorraine the Germans defended with a particularly fierce spirit with the fighting taking place in a bitter, extremely cold winter. This small museum - with access... More
