Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

Beautiful colours, great atmosphere, not really indicated for claustrophobic people

Beautiful place. There are similar things in several other places, I can think of at least a couple in Italy, but it's still always a great experience. Beautiful colours, astonishing effects. I don't find it particularly suitable for really claustrophobic people, since it feels rather small and oppressive in some moments, at least that's the impression I got. The tour... More

We went to see Blue cave. It was one of the best experiences in my life and it's really worth to see. We took one day boat trip with www.bluecavetrip.com , it's cheap and trough whole day you are seeing destinations like this, which are unique, rare and "gold" of Croatia. Also the ticket for Blue cave are included in... More

We hired a yacht for a week of sailing so we were on our own schedule. We sailed on over arriving at about 5:30pm expecting to find a cranky old guy charging entrance and not letting you swim. But he either wasn't working or had already gone home because there was absolutely no one else there! We jumped in the... More

Although extremely pretty inside. The wait of about one and a half hours is not worth the mere ten minutes inside.

Beautiful nature and surroundings, overcrowded in the summer peak, unfortunately, but well worth seeing! If you are visiting Vis, do not miss this trip for the world! Go to Komiža and then take a day trip to Biševo. Visit the Blue Cave in the noon time (best reflection effect, it really is fluorescent, sapphire blue, everything glows in that water),... More

We sailed there mid October, totally alone. Great experience I just wish I had brought my snorkeling gear with me. It was also a perfect place for diving from the cliffs outside, + 10 meters high.

The cave is beautiful and you must see it. A minus is that you need to wait for about an hour in line for a boat to enter the cave and when you enter, the cave is crowded with boats. Inside you can spend only a few minutes.

We dropped in here from our boat hired for the day. There were no queues and we were soon ducking down to enter the cave itself. Yes there were 4 or 5 boats already there, yes one only spent a maximum of 5 minutes.....but it was worth it.

I took an all day boat trip (200 kuna) from Vis town and one of the stops was at the Blue Cave (40 kuna). We had to transfer from our boat to a smaller, 12 person, boat to fit into the cave. Even with the smaller boat you had to duck down low in order to fit through the cave... More
