Owner description: Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

Although extremely pretty inside. The wait of about one and a half hours is not worth the mere ten minutes inside.

Beautiful nature and surroundings, overcrowded in the summer peak, unfortunately, but well worth seeing! If you are visiting Vis, do not miss this trip for the world! Go to Komiža and then take a day trip to Biševo. Visit the Blue Cave in the noon time (best reflection effect, it really is fluorescent, sapphire blue, everything glows in that water),... More

We sailed there mid October, totally alone. Great experience I just wish I had brought my snorkeling gear with me. It was also a perfect place for diving from the cliffs outside, + 10 meters high.

The cave is beautiful and you must see it. A minus is that you need to wait for about an hour in line for a boat to enter the cave and when you enter, the cave is crowded with boats. Inside you can spend only a few minutes.

visiting the blue cave was spectacular. I thought the cave was larger however it was still a spectacular must-see.

We dropped in here from our boat hired for the day. There were no queues and we were soon ducking down to enter the cave itself. Yes there were 4 or 5 boats already there, yes one only spent a maximum of 5 minutes.....but it was worth it.

I took an all day boat trip (200 kuna) from Vis town and one of the stops was at the Blue Cave (40 kuna). We had to transfer from our boat to a smaller, 12 person, boat to fit into the cave. Even with the smaller boat you had to duck down low in order to fit through the cave... More

We did a fantastic day tour including the beautiful blue cave and porat beach (amazing sandy beach!) with Ames tours. The husband and wife team were lovely, fun and informative about the island of vis and surrounds.

This cave is amazing , is something different from what you see on a daily basis.Unfortunately , due to the great amount of tourists visiting the cave ,you only spend a few minutes in it.Moreover , I believe that it's a pity that you are not allowed to swim in that awesome water. All in all, if you go to Croatia... Much smaller than I expected it to be but too beautiful for words too. A tiny but magical cave. Loved it. We enjoyed those ten minutes and got some fabulous photos. The colour of the Sea is amazing in there.
