Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

An absolutely incredible experience. The ride out was great on the speedboat, the cave was awesome and we can see why this is such a popular destination (we were told by Adventures Croatia what time to go to beat the rising tide and got in when other boats that arrived after us couldn't. Thanks again Pamela!)

The blue colour is really blue in this cave:) very nice, but crowded. But it's ok that they protected this cave in the way you can't go in with your own boat.

We stopped at the tourist agency that charged 100 kuna for each person, which is like 14 Euros. You go out in a boat with 10-13 people (they will tell you a maximum number9-10 people, no they will probably put a few more people in.) That is just the price to get to the island. Ride takes about 30 mins... More

This cave was the highlight of a day trip from Hvar Town. There was a visit to a green cave, a blue cave and a small port on Vis. Whilst the green cave was not really green, you could not say the same thing about the blue cave. It was amazing. The blue of the water is caused by the... More

Defiantly recommend going to this place as it is very very beautiful, when going with tours it is very busy and the day we went on was even more so, due to it being closed due to bad weather for a few days after so tours were pushed forward. Despite feeling like cattle and only having a few minutes inside... More

This cave displays such an amazing blue hue. We took the official boat tour costing 40kn. However if you have your own boat you can use your own dinghy (with cost, I am not aware of the price but it would be the same or less) it takes 10 minutes from the launch to the cave and you have approx... Others have said its busy in the high season, i cannot comment on that, we took a day trip which included a visit to the cave. You have to go on a small offical tour boat which cost us 40 Kuna each. (people with own tenders are also charged). i guss from buying a ticket to getting into the boat... More

The cave is much less crouded as similar in Capri and not as commercialised. You can be there on your own, no guides, as stay as much as you want. Magnificient. Try to visit it at earliest possible time to have evem less visitors to enjoy at maximum. We put an ancor nearby and used our dingy to get into... More

glad that we didn't visit in the high season as apparently it gets very busy! As it was there were several boats within the cave and others queuing to get in. This in conjunction with the fact that we didn't get to remain in the cave for very long and that our guide wasn't particuarly enthusiastic or forthcoming with information... More
