Thoroughly impressed with the size of the temple, the intricacies of the carvings, the various carved figures on the walls and around the main block. It is sad that a lot of the surrounding structures have been lost. Fortunately the main temple was prevented from collapsing by filling it up. Visiting the Sun Temple made me proud of being Indian.... more

We visited Konark in Oct 2007. We drove down from puri and I recommend, a stay at Puri for your konark visit. Konark doesnt have anything except the famed sun Temple and a beach. But you need a minimum of 1.5 hours to see the whole temple. You must hire a guide to understand the temple, but do not forget... more

The ancients were able to tell the time of day as the sun rises in Konarak and subsequently progresses in it's path over the sky due to scientifically placed windows in the temple. One of the best place to visit when in India. Carry camera & shoes with you. Visit during early moring to see the rising sun & if possible wait till sunset. It is a great site to see. Particularly the adjacent sea beach. This type of sea beach I never seen anywhere in the World. The Konark temple is also a must to visit with ancient artichecture. It is just like a chariot. Though its condition is in a bad shape, but everybody should visit it once. more

When you visit Konark, it is best to stay in Bhubneswar as it is only a hrs drive away. Bhubaneswar is a modern town with good hotels and excellent accomodation, roads and infrstructure. It was a good experice to see such a thing.yoy doth have stay in Konark you can drive and come back from bhubaneshwar or Puri as there is only one sun temple to see and a beach which does not allow swming due to the current.Overall a nice experience.Thing that bother are the photographers who hound behind you to take... more
