This is an awesome Place, We stopped the first time by chance, But have gone back more then once just to see what has changed and we are never bored, We don't even have to fight with the kids as everyone young and old get a kick out of it.

Although I've lived in the Upper Peninsula for many decades, I'd never heard of this little gem and discovered it by accident while visiting Marquette. The talent of the artist is amazing, and it's even more amazing that he's sharing it with the public for no charge. I doubt anyone would consider the time spent driving through this intriguing place... More

Lakenenland is the actualization of one man's vision. The metal pieces are placed in a forest setting and are unique, special, and will convience you that you, too, can go out and CREATE. Tom Lakenen's "Junkyard Art" is constantly evolving and changing with new sculptures and buildings. Located on M-28 between Au Train and Marquette across from Shot Point Road,... More

On a recent bike trip to the UP this past Fall we decided on our last day to find this place on our way out of town. It was about 10 miles SE of Marquette/Harvey and we almost stopped driving to turn around and head back home when we ran across this enchanting place. There is no admission and it... More

Such creativity! There's some real artistry in many of the pieces. Many have a political message. Obviously a labor of love, you definitely need to stop here if you are in the area. We walked the park, but you can drive most of it. There is also a narrow boardwalk thru the woods as well as the main sculpture paths.

To be honest, I had low expectations. But it was going to rain and it wasn't far from Marquette (10 minutes or so East), so why not go. It was one of the coolest things we did on our vacation! You can drive your vehicle through or walk. We drove because we had no idea how far it would go... More

You can fish there, with fishing poles provided. There's a GORGEOUS shelter and stage, made for any use that you can think of! It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! You'll never see a "no trespassing" sign on this property. It's a huge piece of land, that invites everyone to enjoy it...Vehicles, bikes, 4 wheelers, etc... It's free!... More

I seen this place on many occasions, been there recently on my motorcycle trip to U.P. mostly I seen it in winter while snowmobiling, it is accessible from M-28 and as well from the snowmobile trail 417. Great place to hang out or spend with family walking around (or riding) and enjoying metal work sculptures. There is always a fire... More
