My husband and I took the lighthouse tour. We are from the U.P, and have seen this lighthouse many, many times. The guide did not have a lot of accurate information, but some of the information about Marquette and the lighthouse was correct and could of been expanded upon. There are many stories about the lighthouse which he did not... More

Cannot even imagine being a big water captain...this place has a treasure trove of information, artifacts, and historical significance from the perspective of visitors, and more so, from the ships and crews that have plied, and continue to navigate the crazy GREAT LAKES! We visited specifically because we have direct descendant family members that were ship captains and crew, that some of... More

Our kayaking trip on Lake Superior was weathered out, so we went to explore this museum. The trip to the lighthouse was beautiful although the lighthouse is suffering from rain damage. This actually gives you a real feeling of the precarious weather of the Lakes region. I was very unfamiliar with this area and the role of the maritime. This... More

If you have any interest in the Great Lakes Maritime History, this is a wonderful place to visit. The staff are friendly and helpful; the tour is interesting, and the visit to the Marquette Lighthouse is fascinating. I have visited several times, and I'm certain to go again.

I can't pass up a chance to marvel at a Fresnel lens, and this museum has a 2nd order one! Very interesting diorama of the life-saving efforts when the lyle gun & breeches bouy were last used, in conjunction with one of the first rescues using a helicopter. And, other well-done exhibits of the commercial fishing & shipping history in... More

A terrific museum regarding the Great Lakes history. Many relics from Great Lakes shipwrecks as you might expect. This museum would interest anyone who has lived near the great lakes states or Canada.

The younger kids had a scavenger hunt and seek and find in the museum. It was interesting looking at the displays. A local man was captain of sub in pacific and the museum had a battle display of what he did in the battle of Leyte (spelling) Gulf. There is a lighthouse tour there to take also.
