This was a great hike! The whole way up was great views of rocks and trees and a little wild life. I did not think this was a bad hike at all. They have two paths a beginners and a more advanced one. We took the advanced one up and the beginners one back down. I didn't think it was... More

We took the "difficult" trail vs. the "easy" but it wasn't bad. The top is where everyone has to climb lots of stairs and that can be tiring for some. It was a beautiful view. We are glad we did it.

We did a quick stop at Marquette for heavy lunch and then decided to take a hike up mountain 😀. It was worth the hike. We took a easy trail, which has stairs built till the top. View from top was great. We had an opportunity to see the fog clear out and that was an awesome view. Easy trail,... More

While attending NMU back in 2001 and afterwards the Wildcat Marching Band would frequent this place. It is surrounded by beauty. Friends of mine and I would frequent this place as well. It truly is beautiful. A nice place to start a little bonfire and share some stories.

I hadn't been here in years, so had to go when I had the chance. You can follow the trail or scamper up the rocks, but I chose the easier trail and stairs. Limited time and energy, you know. Seems that it is higher and steeper than it was 25 years ago! Anyway, great views of the lakeshore and town... More

We took the challenging trail up. Lots of rocks and roots, but not that difficult going up. But coming back down, we chose the easy trail. One misstep coming down and it would be easy to twist an ankle on the challenging trail. Awesome views. ..a must stop.

This was so breathtaking and such a fun challenge to climb. I saw the stairs and decided to climb the rocks most of the way up. I got to the top and was so excited at the fact that I could see for miles. My boyfriend and I were looking for things to do in Marquette for the day while... More

Our son, his girlfriend and I hiked up Sugarloaf and I was astounded at the wonderful view on top! It would be terrific at sunrise or sunset, but even mid-day, we were thrilled! There's wildlife, wonderful trees and plants, and it's peaceful and quiet. It was FREE. It's a little bit of a challenge for an old gal, but I... More

We were in the area to visit the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and decided to head over to Marquette for the day. The first thing we did was the Sugarloaf Mountain hike. Definitely worth the stop! We took the easy trail since we had a 4 year old along and she was able to walk the trail and stairs up... More
