If you want some good exercise and a pleasant walk/hike in the woods, try it. There is an easy trail, which doesn't have as many rocks & roots to climb over, however, there is lots of stairs. The expert trail is shorter, but is steep & rocky, also with lots of stairs to the top. When you get there it... More

A must-see if in Marquette area. There are two trails: one easier, the other more difficult. We went up the easy way and came down the difficult with no problems. My patents ages 71 and 65 did fine. Just need to take your time along the way. At the top there are amazing views and lots of areas to go... More

We decided to climb to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain about an hour before sunset. There were different trails to choose from and we actually did a combination of the easy and more strenuous trail. There are a variety of stairs on the trail so the trail isn't difficult but it is just a steep climb. On the way down... More

This is a real gem of a place. The walk to the top is under 1.5 miles. It is "moderately strenuous." Almost anyone can do this hike. Just pace yourself according to your fitness level. Just realize that this baby climbs from the road to the top quite steeply. They "offer" you TWO choices in climbing difficulty. One is moderate... More

Wonderful view at the peak. Two trails with easy access to the top. The view of the lake and coastline is really great. Benches and platforms on the mountain top give visitors a great place to rest and take pictures.

We were recently up in Marquette for a family reunion and a suggested activity was hiking up Sugarloaf. Ages 4-43 hiked up about 90 minutes before sunset. We also had two dogs with us. While I have exercise-induced asthma, I did fine without an inhaler. We all took the difficult trail. Gorgeous views at the top. We worth the stop.... More

My wife, who is from the Yoop, insisted we do this hike on our recent visit. I really didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be an excellent way to start our day. The hike provides two different paths and neither of them are very difficult. As others have stated the views are awesome at the top... More

You absolutely have to visit sugarloaf if you are in the area! Things to know: no bathroom where you park nor drinking fountain. Be prepared! Wear lots of bug spray, this is the woods after all. The difficult trail wasn't to bad for us. I climbed it 16 weeks pregnant just fine while taking our time. As long as you... More

Put on your walking shoes and take a hike well worth the time. Its a very nice trail with some steps and alot of climbing as you can guess but places to stop and enjoy the view. Would be nice in the fall.

The hike up Sugarloaf Mountain was a great little workout for six of us, aged 15 - 40-something. Our 15 year old son led the way and set the pace up the difficult slope. We managed to huff and puff our way up the mountain in under 15 minutes -- by no means is it necessary to move this quickly!... More
