A small town becoming alive again. Cute boutique shops along with antique stores, art gallery and a renovated theater showing first-run films.

Nice walk although you need to keep out of private areas. Walk from the bridge to the end is over a mile.

With the boardwalk running along side the whole mile or so of river, everyone can follow the 800+ foot freighters as they work their way through to Lake Manistee! All the while you are walking the length of Manistee's main street (River St.) and so close to the vessels that you can talk to the people on board! Topping this... More

We did a 2 hour kayak down the Manistee River. It was a very calm comfortable trip. Very much enjoyed for our first kayak experience. Plan to do it again.

A brisk walk or a leisurely stroll are all possible on the Manistee Riverwalk. Begin on the East end behind the Chamber of Commerce building and walk all the way to Lake Michigan or stroll up to River Street for lunch and some shopping. Open year round but I like it best in the Summer & Fall.
