I have visited both the state park and the state campground on Orchard Beach. I enjoy both. The campsite has great views if you are lucky enough (book 4-5mths in advance) to book a site near the bluff over Lake MI. It does have alot of stairs to get down to the beach, so I end up carrying one or... More

We stayed at Orchard Beach recently. The park is on the small side - maybe 100 acres or so. It has about 140 camp sites and some camping cabins. Most sites are dirt - not much grass there. The bath houses there are a little dated - limited number of showers & toilets. We stayed in site #65 which is... More

If you are the type that likes to enjoy the surrounding area when and where you camp, then by all means give this little park a try. We just stayed here for our 4th year in a row and always love it and find plenty to do in the area. As you exit the park, turn LEFT and a beach... More

Although this park is a beauty, I feel there are at least two items that need to be corrected. Number one is the use of the paved road by big and little kids on bikes & tricks. This makes for a dangerous situation, as there is a lot of motorized traffic using this same road throughout the park. The second... More

Just spent 5 nights at this state park. It is one of the oldest parks, and parts do show their age but it is incredibly well maintained. Beautiful views for. The bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Very steep stairs case down to the gorgeous sand beach. While the park was very busy it was quiet and the facilities are very clean.... More

Can't beat a beautiful sunset over the big water of Lake Michigan unless you get an equally beautiful one two nights in a row. The view and beach access are just steps away from any camp site in the park. If you are lucky and were on the ball getting your reservation 6 months prior, you may even have a... More

My first mistake was trying to make 4th of July holiday reservations so late in season, but when I went online and found a few sites still open, I jumped on it. At first, I was kind of stuck on the idea of a mini-cabin, because there was actually one still available for ONE of the weekend nights I wanted... More

The self guided hiking trails across the street from the beach were beautiful! They were easy to navigate- even for novice hikers. The beach area of the other side was very clean and spacious.

Literally, an old Orchard, many trees are still there. Operated as a state park, you will learn to appreciate the winds off Lake Michigan here! Nights can be cool but days can be amazing!
