Description: A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point...
A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

For the ticket price to enter to see a lighthouse is a little too high and need a little more update and more to do.

Was a very informative history of the lighthouse. In the main building the rooms were decorated like the time period when light keepers stayed there. Were some interesting artifacts in building. You can walk up the stairs of the tower but the lens has been removed and is located in the keepers quarters.

Our second historic landmark of the day. Quick trip. Must be 4 feet tall and no flip flops to climb tower. It's a short climb, pretty view. Shipwreck Museum was definitely the highlight, after the big light.

The lighthouse tour was nothing much. I was wearing a skirt so I did not feel comfortable climbing to the very top. I was still able to see the view. The guides were very knowledgeable. There is a very small gift shop on site. Included in the ticket price was access to the other buildings.

It was very interesting, and was on the beautiful lake Huron! We weren't able to go inside but we did read a little about it on the informational boards surrounding the lighthouse. Wish we could've gone inside!

A must see. A beautiful lighthouse. A classic. Staff is excellent. This is as also a great place to view the sunset highlighted by the bridge.

We have been here during the heat of summer and the bitter cold of winter but regardless of the season, I never get tired of the view from Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. On our most recent visit, we did not go inside the lighthouse (we have done that in the past – the view from the top is great). There... More

this is a beautifully located lighthouse, right beside the Mackinac bridge and in the beach. the gift shop is very nice and has lots of choices. we opted not to climb to the top as we had just climbed McGulpins point. it costs $7.50 per adult to climb the tower.
