Nice way to introduce yourself to the Island at a reasonable price. Got the package with Star Line Ferry and had a great time with my family. You get a good run around some of the popular spots on the island and can hop off/on at Surrey Hill and Fort Mackinac plus you get some time at Arch Rock. All... More

This was not my first carriage tour nor will it probably be my last. Usually, you just cannot see enough and the content is only as good as the driver. Since I have been on the tour more than once, my questions become more complex as I try to learn more about the Island and perhaps life as a 'carriage... More

Was able to take 49# Fido along with for the carriage ride and tour. Sat in back row, once with other passengers, once without. Staff at the transfer point was friendly, provided biscuits and water and explained that we could tour the carriage building, etc. The Carriage tour takes a cruise-like photo of everyone in the carriage, and caught the... We initially took the tour because it was raining..but boy were we glad we did!! Our drivers were super nice and very informative. We couldn't believe how much there was to learn about the island! They took us to arch rock and answered so many questions. We saw beautiful forests that have been kept in tact since the war...it's just... More

After riding bicycles around the entire island, we were looking for some down time :) The carriage tour was just what we needed, it gave us some time to rest in between stops. We got to see the interior of the island and our tour guide was very informative and we learned a lot about the island and its history.

I've been on these tours twice, both times were such an utter disappointment. Do yourself a favor, go see Joe Plaza at the park for a private carriage tour with native drivers whose families have been on the island for generations. It usually works out to be the same amount of money with the added advantage of a personalized tour.

This tour gives you a very good overview of the island. Only way to see the arch unless you hike or bike. I've been coming to the island for over 40 years and always so this tour when I bring people for the first time

Public is a no dot the private is a 5 dot. We would not recommend the public carriage tours. We used to always take these, but they have become to commercial. You start out in one side carriage, then half way through they switch you to a larger carriage. However, while you are waiting for the switch, they stop at... More

We have taken a couple of these tours at different locations. So much depends on your guide. The trip is broken into two parts. Our first guide did an excellent job and the tour was enjoyable and educational. Part two was through the state park without much to see but foliage. Our guide was a first timer and hadn't learned... I've been on two carriage ride tours on Mackinaw Island - one was a carriage that took 20+ people and the other was after I was married and we had a carriage that took 2 - 6 people. Both times I was amazed on the knowledge the drivers had about the island. The smaller carriage tour was better - we... More
