People in period costumes did musical and musket firing demonstrations. The buildings are staged as an example of life would have been like for the fort residents. The views from the hill are fabulous.

Lots of walking, climbing stairs, but very historic and interesting. great views for taking photos. Leave enough time to tour the fort and get a carriage tour back to main street.
This Island is great. I love it. It is beautiful, fun entertaining and something to do for everyone. The fort is just pure American history. The restaurant at the fort has a nice patio over looking the harbor. It is awesome. If you are young and want to party, downtown is fun and just wait until after hours when the...

There is a lot of walking and standing involved, but the buildings and history are interesting. If you go within an hour of closing, your ticket is still good through the next day. It generally takes about an hour to complete. The climb up to the fort (either by hill or by stairs) is steep. I've been going to the...

I have visited quite a few forts, this is definitely one of the best. There is so much to see. They have people dressed in period costumes. Between the Boy Scouts and the interpreters, there are people everywhere. There is always someone nearby to give assistance. The Fort and its buildings are in excellent condition. Everyone working here takes so...

A must see on the island! The guides dressed in period uniforms provide brief demonstrations of cannon and rifle firing. Each building on the self guided tour gives a glimpse of the early days on the island. The view of the harbor and bridge is spectacular.
This is a place back in time & well preserved with lots of history. They shoot the cannon & fire muskets. There is much to do & see.
It was a cold weekend (think snow!) but visiting the Fort was great. The people who were working at the fort were very helpful and easy to talk to. They took time to answer any questions we had and to demonstrate their knowledge of the history of the fort. And of course the view from the fort of the island...

Always enjoy the history about places we go. The buildings and people were great. There was a group of Boy Scouts at each building to help/assist you and help direct you.
don't miss this commanding position atop North American history, where the view you have is almost the same as those of both the British and the Americans around the time of the 1812 war. Very knowledgeable guides, and real cannon firing. A much under appreciated, rarely crowded connection with American history.
