If you travel to Michigan, don't pass up a chance to take the Ferry to Mackinac Island. We took a carriage ride up to the top of the Island to Fort Mackinaw and sat on the veranda overlooking Mackinac Island, sipping our drinks. Talk about relaxing and beautiful! More

Fort Mackinac is something that everyone should do at least once. The ramp up to the Fort is exhausting... but they do have a handicapped entrance on the north side of the Fort if you're not able to make it up the ramp. Once you're inside the Fort, some of the buildings are only accessible if you go up stairs...... More

The museum, the rifle and cannon demonstrations, the view, THE VIEW, the people... All just fun and wonderful. I learn and notice something new each time we go. We love just about everything offered on Mackinac Island. Eat at the Tea Room!! More

It was both historical and educational. I have been to Mackinac without going to the fort, so last time we toured the fort for something different to do. It was fun. Plug your ears when the cannon goes off. :0) More

We really enjoyed our visit to the Fort. We watched a rifle firing demonstration before touring the small group of buildings. I especially liked seeing the apartments the officer's families used to live in. The volunteers in period costume were really enthusiastic and informed. My only suggestion would be more interactive media. More

This fort served a vital role in the settling of the upper Midwest. During the summer season costumed interpreters abound and demonstrations of cannon, rifles, etc. occur frequently throughout the day. There are several other historical sites outside the fort including a church of the era and the house where Dr. Beaumont observed the operation of the stomach through a... More

We really didn't mind missing the famous Mackinac Hotel. They wanted twenty bucks for my wife and I to view it. We managed to get in free to their July 4th Fair and pool--not telling our secret here. Didn't mind missing biking around Mackinac Island. My wife and I walked the entire 8 miles. I did miss the opportunity to... More
