Took the Badger from Manitowac to Ludington. Loading and unloading was very efficient. They met their published timetable on the dot. The day we travelled was quite cool and windy with the wind coming in from the north causing some rolling motion in the ship. After trying several areas we finally found a seat outside on the stern where the... More

My wife and I were in line to board the ferry on Wednesday, 18 September. We arrived at 8 a.m., parked our car in one of the designated lanes and got in line with all the other waiting passengers. Approximately 45 minutes before the ship was supposed to sail they announced "The crossing has been canceled due to mechanical problems."... More

We have always wanted to take the S.S. Badger for years. We got the opportunity this fall and loved it! The seats in the tv and movie rooms were very comfortable, the bingo was enjoyable (maybe because we won) and bathrooms were clean. We ate brunch on the way from Manitowoc, WI. I think it was open when we left... More

Everyone traveling through the area (Luddington, MI & Manitowoc, WI) should experience cruising across Lake Michigan on the S.S. Badger! Not only is it a historical experience to ride on this great ship built in 1952, it's also practical and fun. Check the website ahead of time to verify her schedule as it changes seasonally, with no service in the... More

On a trip cross country (Massachusetts to Oregon), we rode the SS Badger from Ludington to Manitowoc. We had fun! A cool coal fired ferry (they will make the whole coal process cleaner soon) that saved us some mileage and allowed us to wake up later on the second day of trip. Once on board we realized we were in... More

The ss Badger is a piece of history. It's great that they are still operating. We went from Ludington to Manitowoc. The crew who load and unload the ship are great! Very friendly and skilled at squeezing in cars and even big trucks. The 4 hour crossing was fun, smooth and scenic. The accommodations and features are very good -... More

This ferry is legendary. It was my first chance to cross Lake Michigan on the Badger, after having heard about it for years. It's expensive, but in my way of thinking, an affordable luxury. When you call to make reservations, staff is very informative and instructions are very clear. Boarding is efficient and easy. For me, that was part of... More

We took the Badger from Ludington to Manitowoc on Wed., Sept 4th. It was our first time onboard and we really enjoyed the ride. It was a gorgeous sunny day so that made the ride even better. It was just me and my husband. We opted for one of the staterooms below and we are glad we did that. Since... More

We took the SS Badger to avoid Chicago and get out from behind the wheel of the car. It was very interesting watching all the vehicles being loaded onto the boat. The cruise itself was quite nice and relaxing, there are many activities to help you pass the time. There are things to do while you make the trip. You can... More

Taking the ferry on our homeward trip was very relaxing. There were many activities to keep everyone busy on the trip. Everyone was friendly we all shared where we were coming from and where we were going. It sure beets driving all the way around the lake.
