My wife grew up in the area and it was a go to place for her family, I understand why she and we want to return when in the area. First it is clean, very clean!! We are walkers so we love the trails that wind you around the dunes and lakes it is nature at its best. There is... More

Well this will be our 10th year in a row going. Enough said. Love the diversity that is offered here, hiking trails, swimming in the calm Hamlin Lake, jumping the waves at Lake Michigan, walking to the lighthouse, fishing at the dam, floating on the river, and the history tours with Allen. The park is well kept and for the... More

The trails are awesome. Very nicely marked, and well kept. We took the trail to the Lighhouse and it was incredible. We're not campers, but that area looked well kept too.

Excellent sand beach- 7 miles long. Dunes, trails, lighthouse. Park sandwiched between Lake Michigan and Hamlin lake, a small inland lake. We like to ride bikes and plenty of opportunity for that here. Got to ride over a small dam. You can tube down a short river, kayak either lake. Camp sites are typical size. Don't seem as packed in... More

Beautiful tranquil park!!! Excellent for hiking, walking to the lighthouse or thru the woods. Great bike path along the river/channel. and the most wonderful campground. We prefer it in the winter, less people and plenty of wildlife to enjoy!!!

We got there before lunch on a foggy day and saw 4 deer and heard turkeys. There's a paved path and trails. Camp sites as well. There's a beach and a smaller lake on the opposite side of the park. You can rent canoes, etc.

My family has camped here every summer for many, many years and have never been disappointed. There are too many activities available to list them all, including camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and boating. Just about any outdoor activity you can think of is available at the park. The park is about 10 miles out of town, but most of... More

This is yet another one of Michigan's treasures. I have visited the park at least 30 times since I have lived in Michigan(1993) and it is a great place for the family. The beach is clean, well groomed, nice volleyball nets, and the sand is great for Sandcastle's. The newer concessions build is clean with ample space to get out... More

A pretty spot on earth. Some of the best sand dunes in Michigan. We just drove through and took a few photos. But, just like all Michigan State Parks, the camp sites were clean, well maintained.
