Lots of twists and bends. Very pretty and quiet. Only issue was there were a lot of obstacles, like downed trees, that kept you working 90% of the time.

One of our favorite rivers for canoeing; some current but easy to maneuver. Several available canoe liveries with brand name canoes in good condition. Easy for beginners. Not polluted or murky. Mainly through forests.

We put in East of Scottville at a township launch site (using our own kayaks) and paddled to the County/DNR launch site across from Henry's Landing. This is a nice portion of the Pere Marquette as it has many bends in the river along with a nice flow so one doesn't have to constantly paddle. We have kayaked this in... More

Went to Ludington last year, rented kayaks and paddled on the lower Pere Marquette. A nice, low key paddle, good scenery and wildlife, with the twist that the river is slow enough that you can paddle around an island -- different from the usual up and back river paddle.

We are a family of four, with the kids aged 14 and 9. Not hard-core paddlers by any means - our experience is limited to rented canoes and kayaks in local lakes and ponds. While staying in Ludington this weekend we wanted to try paddling down Pere Marquette river. After some research we decided to rent a 3-person canoe canoe... More

I love, love, love the PM River. My husband and I camp at Henry's Landing located right at the river in Scottville. We kayak different sections of the river several times a month. I love the flora and fawna. I have even kayaked at night when the moon was full. The river is peaceful and beautiful.

Had a delightful day kayaking the Pere Marquette River. It is a very slow, gentle river (would have preferred a faster one), beautiful, and peaceful. We rented kayaks from a place in Scottville (don't remember the name, but only one there) and they were very friendly, helpful and well priced (cash or check). Very close to Ludington, which is where... More

Drove around all the sites checking out the camping and canoeing options. The forests are quite dense and makes for a great outdoor experience. Hiked in a bit and saw amazing wildlife and great photo opts. Want to try the camping next!
