Situated on the Grand River, this historically preserved home is more than a museum. Hosting several interactive events for children throughout the year it is also an events venue. The grounds also make great photo ops in the spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom. A great place to visit with family or friends.

This is a beautiful, historic home in Lansing located in a pretty park setting on the river. The home was added onto in the early 1900’s by one of the family members. It is now used for weddings, meetings and other functions, which is kind of the problem I had with it. Only four rooms had period furnishings—the boys’ bedroom, girls’ bedroom, guest bedroom and music room—and I’m not sure even those rooms contained many furnishings belonging to the family. Most of the rooms had been altered to accommodate the functions that are held at the home and there is a lot of stuff all over the place—card tables and chairs, meeting chairs, holiday decorations, etc. I get that a historic home has to get its funding from somewhere, so I don’t take issue with that. But maybe clean it up between functions? Buy a storage locker to store decorations and meeting chairs and tables? Store the holiday decorations in one room and close that room off? I’m a neatnik and felt like I was walking around a friend’s messy house, which distracted me from really appreciating the home.

Very well preserved historical mansion...loved the decor and the preservation of the time period. Definitely worth seeing. If I lived in the area would definitely consider hosting an event there!

Turner Dodge Mansion is one of the oldest homes in Lansing and is well restored. Periodically, the mansion hosts special events and it is an outstanding venue for things like weddings or gatherings that would benefit from an early 20th century feel. Filled with beautiful antiques and furnished as it would be if someone was residing there during the period, the mansion has a large ballroom, gracious porches and balconies and makes for a lovely afternoon of wandering about in the nostalgia of another time.

If you like antiques and historic decor, this place is very well done. Very well maintained. You can catch an occasional music event here as well for an intimate concert.

Interesting history and gorgeous location along the grand river...easy access from the trial. Wasn’t sure it was open when we happened along it, but it was. We took a tour $5 each.

It is also used as a wedding venue...which would be great except limited due to stairs.

All decorated for Halloween...so should be fun for that event.

I've always passed by here, but never walked in. I went to a get together held here, and the house is just beautiful! You can walk around the house and look at the different artifacts. The third floor had an absolutely stunning ballroom, and it is where you can walk out to the balcony! This would be a great place to hold events or meetings!

This is a great place to stop for local history. My visit was during the Festival of Trees exhibit featuring local establishments entries throughout the house. It enhanced the experience but the home is very nice on its own.

I've been visiting this home since childhood. Its fun to walk the beautifully furnished rooms. The gardens are nice for pictures. Its pretty event oriented. The attic serves as a multi purpose space.

I love touring historic homes especially at Christmas time when they are decorated for the season. In the past, I have been here for tea but this time we visited the Turner Dodge House during its Third Annual Festival of Trees. There were over 30 decorated Christmas trees throughout the three floors. Each tree is uniquely decorated. The Christmas lights fill the rooms with color and sparkle. The mansion was originally built in 1858 and has been restored to showcase its carved woodwork, crown-moulding, wood floors, and lead-glass windows. There is a nominal fee to tour the house. The first floor is handicap accessible but the upper floors do not appear to be. On-site parking with handicap spaces is available.
