I spent the afternoon with my daughter and granddaughter and we had a wonderful day. Many people in the Lansing area don't even know this museum is even there. It has great Michigan History, and amazing displays. There is a small fee to tour it but well worth it. The exhibits change at times so we have decided to make... More

We took our 9 year old son on the front end of a family vacation. The location is downtown Lansing near the Michigan Supreme Court. There is plenty of convenient inexpensive parking available. Our tickets were discounted because we have a Michigan recreation pass. Plan on at least two hours to tour the museum. Plenty of hands on educationally relevant... More

This museum is important because many people don't know the history or resources of their own state. If we don't understand the past, we are condemned to repeat our mistakes. It is an enlightening look at a state's history. I hope that every state has a museum like this.

All I can say is WOW! what a wonderful overview of Michigan. All the staff are great and so engaged with this process. Do not miss the third floor mezzanine! Get a peak at a Detroit Speakeasy!

The museum has a lot of history and exhibits about Michigan. It is very nice to take people who are not from Michigan to learn about our history.

As state museums go, the Michigan Historical Museum is very well done. The exhibits are divided between a few floors, and range from regular case-and-label displays to an immersive copper mining setup. This balance keeps the visit fresh and interesting as you move from Michigan's earliest inhabitants through the modern auto industry. It's a great setting for any age, from... More

I wasn't sure what to expect with this museum, but it exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed how they had information set out in an interactive format. While small, it was still a great size for kids. I went with a school group, but I wouldn't mind going back sometime with just my family.

The museum was teeming with kids the Thanksgiving week. My grand daughter didn't want to go, then she did not want to leave. The early history entry exhibits could use considerable improvements, but much of the collection was very good. There were nice representations of a farm house, and other lving quarters. My grandson like the civil war exhibit. There... More

I visited the state museum last May, and it was definitely worth the six dollar admission. The building itself is interesting in design and is worth a second look. The museum is fairly extensive - it took me about two hours to get through it all. It takes you through the history of Michigan from before humans lived there to... More
