It's a small zoo, as others have mentioned, but it's not expensive, it's friendly, and it's walkable. A fun way to spend an afternoon. And some of the exhibits are pretty good. more

The Potter Park Zoo is wonderful for children and families. It has everything one could ask for in a zoo and more. It is also located on the beautiful Red Cedar River near historic downtown Lansing. A must see! more
As the previous reviewer noted, Potter Park Zoo definitely does not compare to the zoos in Detroit or Toledo. The zoo is small, but it's perfect for younger kids. It's open year round, and admission is free in the winter months, so I would recommend stopping by. There's a great Festival of Lights that runs through christmas, so that was a plus. Like I said, the zoo is small, so it may not appeal to older kids, but you... more
The park is very small. You can cover it in about 2 hours. I would not plan to make it a all day trip. Bigger kids may find the zoo bland and boring. There is really nothing to eat there so bring your own food. You definitely cannot compare it to the Detroit or Toledo zoo. more
