We spent an enjoyable afternoon at Potter Park Zoo---my husband, 4 kids (ages 11-6) and I. While the animal attractions were very nicely put together and clean, we did have a few disappointments. The aquatic/coral exhibit did not have fish labeled, not even a large poster for the kids to pick out different fish. (They were able to pick out... more

It's a small zoo, as others have mentioned, but it's not expensive, it's friendly, and it's walkable. A fun way to spend an afternoon. And some of the exhibits are pretty good. more

The Potter Park Zoo is wonderful for children and families. It has everything one could ask for in a zoo and more. It is also located on the beautiful Red Cedar River near historic downtown Lansing. A must see! more

The zoo is small, but it's perfect for younger kids. It's open year round, and admission is free in the winter months, so I would recommend stopping by. There's a great Festival of Lights that runs through christmas, so that was a plus. Like I said, the zoo is small, so it may not appeal to older kids, but you... more

The park is very small. You can cover it in about 2 hours. I would not plan to make it a all day trip. Bigger kids may find the zoo bland and boring. There is really nothing to eat there so bring your own food. You definitely cannot compare it to the Detroit or Toledo zoo. more
