Be sure to take the guided tour. The guide will ask you - elevators or stairs? Michigan State Spartan is the head guide. Surprisingly ornate.

Hanging out with my granddaughter for the afternoon, asking her how she wanted to spend the afternoon and she replied, "I want to see the Capitol," I have been several times over the years but never on the guided tour. We took the free guided tour, and she loved it, and even I learned many things about our state capitol... More

We did the guided tour and really enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the building, it's history and Michigan's government. I would highly recommend going!

The Michigan State Capital is large, ornate, and functional. It is one of the larger capital buildings I have visited. The woodwork, old chandeliers and ceilings are beautiful. If you have time, go with the guide. You will hear a lot more about each room, hall, or stairway you see. The tour guide had interesting stories for children and adults... More

The tour was informative and educational. So many capitol buildings to visit, so little time. The rotunda sound effects was one of the favorites in our group.

Work was being done on Capitol entry, scaffolding & construction. Didn't realize nothing would be open on Saturday but at least my two Grand Rapids grandchildren got to see the outside & look at the Memorials!

The Michigan State Capitol is a remarkable building. One of the most beautiful state capitol buildings, historically significant, it has been recently restored and lovingly cared for over the years. We had a one-hour long guided tour of the building and would have loved to have more. Our docent was fantastic! She really knew her stuff and obviously loved what... More

Even if you are not from Michigan, the state capital building is worth seeing. Not only is it rich in architecture and beauty, but it tells an important part of our nation's history. Beautiful paintings and an amazing dome add to the time spent there.
