I had been to the capitol when I was younger and had great memories. This was my husband's first visit. We did the self-guided tour, I am sure we would have learned more in a guided tour but it was bogged down with school kids that day. That was completely fine, I like the idea of knowing kids are still... More

Beautiful old architecture. We visited with our 12 & 14 year old and they enjoyed it just as much as the adults. It's well worth a stop if you're in the area. You can do a self guided tour and make your way through the building in a shorter or longer amount of time if you wish to go at... More

Our guide for the school field trip was amazing in his delivery. We got to go on the Senate floor and the state senator talked to us about how things are done on the floor. The glass floor was really neat and the rotunda was amazing to look at from under neath. Lots of great wood work and cabinetry in... More

You can get an eye full just strolling around the grounds and enjoying the impeccable grounds and the amazing building. Going inside is also a visual treat. I am a photographer and never tire of it.

We have often driven across southern Michigan on the route between Chicago and Southern Ontario, this time deciding to take a detour into Lansing to visit the Michigan State Capitol. We are extremely glad that we did. It's exterior is of the 'domed' neo-classical style like many other state capitols. In fact we would suggest that, in that regard, it... More

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan's historic Capitol building is reopening to the public on Saturdays for the first time in years. The State Capitol Commission voted Monday to again host free tours of the 136-year-old building on Saturdays, starting June 6. The Capitol currently is open Monday through Friday. The downtown Lansing building will have hour-long guided tours on Saturday... More

Wonderful architectural experiences. Great for kids to see where our state government functions. And you might meet someone you know there.

The Capitol is a great place to visit, especially through a guided tour! The architecture, construction, and history of the building is incredible, and really any visitor to Lansing should appreciate what the Capitol has to offer (all politics aside). From the lower level, to the rotunda, to the chambers, to the governor's office....all fantastic places to see and experience.

Even though I am not a Michigander, the docent tour was very interesting from a U. S. History perspective. I had some time after a business meeting and am glad I took a Local's recommendation. The architecture is very interesting also. I think it is only open during the week, and some areas get closed based on what is going... More

It was really good. Unfortunately some access were closed but I managed to see most of the palces...the supreme court... It is something you have to visit if you come to Lansing, it's free and you learn a lot about history if you take a tour guide.
