Great piece of Michigan history

Went with our son's class and learned a lot. It's definitely worth visiting for the art and architectural views alone.

The State Capitol tour was awesome. Everyone was so very nice. The State Capitol as a very nice lot for handicap accessible parking on the grounds of the Capitol and entrance without steps! The tour was informative. We were able to borrow a wheelchair. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind to all. The tourist desk staff were also very nice... More

It's your house...and it's amazing. Get on a docent led tour...you will be amazed at the craftsmanship that went into building this truly remarkable building.

The capital has a lot of history in it and every person from Michigan should take the time to visit it. I had the opportunity to see the government in action and it was pretty amazing. The architecture of the building is beautiful - If I remember correctly, the architect who designed this building designed it after the capital in... More

Being in Lansing and skipping one of the most beautiful historical buildings would be the greatest sin for history buffs :) As we were told, this building in Victorian style is the only state capitol building in the U.S. designated as a National Historic Landmark. It's definitely worth a visit to take historical stairs made of wood, visit a historical... More

Lansing and East Lansing are essentially dull towns, so a visit to the capital if you are bored is something to do in a day. The design is somewhat Victorian with the kind of artwork on the ceilings and walls one expects from the era and the woodwork is of exceptional quality. There are tours and self guided walks, a... The Michigan capital is at the end of Michigan avenue. The red brick streets are preserved from the past. The scaffolding from the ground to the spire around the capital impacts any picture. The Texas capital in Austin is more picturesque.
