Great art exhibits in this small town, remarkable actually. Featuring some outstanding local artists as well as a quality rotation of featured international artists. It is also a school, of sorts, offering classes in many creative disciplines such as: Painting, Drawing, Photography, Writing, Jewelry Making, and several more. A clear Gem to have in town!

This is not a huge museum but the exhibits are of high quality. The gift shop has great items at a variety of prices. I have gotten some expensive presents here that were much appreciated by the recipients

I attended a wedding at Kalamazoo institute of arts, and it was wonderful. Great staff and scenery for a reception. There were beautiful murals on the walls.

We are a family, so having the one room of interactive displays for kids was nice. There is a nice flow to the rooms, and the exhibits are interesting. The glass Chilluly in the entrance is amazing. Not a big wow for the rest of the permanent collection, but it does a nice job for what it is. The changing... More

A very impressive museum in Kalamazoo. The Institute of the Arts is constantly changing the exhibits they have on display there. So if you have been once you only have to wait until the next one arrives, to see another wonderful cultural experience.

Excellent place to visit with family or scout troop. The Chihully up front is gorgeous and always feature a good K-12 show in the Spring with excellent talented pieces from local kids. The O'Keefe exhibit was worth the wait.

My favorite part of the Kalamazoo Institute of Art is the gift shop. There are some cool things in there. I don't find it very family friendly but would be a nice date night or something to do with someone else who likes new age art. I bought a pair of earrings there in the shop about a year or... More

This building houses a school that is enormous by population standards, and the display areas feature temporary exhibits. A current "paperworks" exhibit was intriguing, with entries from all over, and many creative works that begged for time to really consider them. A second exhibit of local art ranged from excellent to okay, and was fun to take in. Definitely worth... More

Amazing to me that such a great institute is located in Kalamazoo. Kalamazoo was quite an eye opener to me of cities that are much more than expected or anticipated! Beautiful city with great renovated building of old mixed with the new of the 20/21st century. What a great experience.
