The KIA was a fun experience. It engages all audiences. It has art for the high brow and pretty art for the common man. All in all it was a fun experience and would go there again. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Kalamazoo for the first time.

This is a good place to spend a few hours. We saw a special exhibit on art works commenting on the envioronment, a photo essay on steinway pianos, and other wonderful pieces. I got the impression the works are always changing. There is parking across the street (next to the church). It's well marked. I would recommend this place as... More

For the locals this is a real gem. The classes they provide in a variety of different mediums is wonderful. The permanent collection has some wonderful pieces of sculpture as well as paintings. They always have a special exhibit going, and have brought in important pieces. Recommend checking to see what the special exhibit may be. The admission was a... More

If you happen to be in Kalamazoo or passing through, this is a nice small art museum that is well worth a couple of hours of your time. They devote excellent space to rotating exhibits, and our visit found a exhibition of illustrations from children's books and another devoted to Chinese art. Small but interesting and an interesting focus. They... More

They have constant changing exhibits. Always have been impressed each time I visit the KIA. They bring exhibits in from all over the world, well worth the visit.

This unique instition exceeds visitors expectations. The KIA is a professional non-credited art school with facilities and faculty equal to any college or university in the country. Many workshops and one-day classes are offered. The museum has a collection of over 4000 works of art. The exhibition are comparable to many you would expect in a larger city. Totally worth... More

The Kalamazoo Institute of Art is well worth visiting. There is a large Dale Chihuly Chandelier at the entrance. There is an impressive Peter Voulkos sculpture, an exploratory/activity room for children (our grand kids could spend a good hour here) and a great gift shop. Also, we have been very impressed with the temporary exhibits. Every summer when we visit... More

While not a big city art museum, I think the KIA is amazing, with a well-rounded collection of diverse media, timeframes and geography. It is definitely worth an afternoon, if not a whole day. Plenty of downtown Kalamazoo fun to be had before or afterwards as well.

Even if you only view the Chiully (sp?) chandelier the KIA is great. Across the street from the park. A perfect place for a quiet walk, art fair if you are lucky or a pretty place to read a book.

I grew up in Kalamazoo before moving to Indonesia and have had the privilege of enjoying the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts on many occasions. It truly is one of the best in the country with innovative curated exhibits that you rarely find in a city the size of Kalamazoo. The Wyeths exhibition and the Dale Chihuly Glass Exhibit were both...
