The Kzoo Institute of Art is a small art space but they always use it effectively. It is a pleasure to have space around objects and floor space to avoid bumping into someone when looking at art. This was true for the bamboo exhibit last year and applies to the current Tiffany lamp exhibit that I saw with a few... More

It's about a six hour drive from Ann Arbor to Chicago. Ann Arbor is more or less Exit 172 on I-94 in Michigan, while the Kalamazoo Institute of Art is best reached off Exit 76. Four miles or so north (on the left) on something called Westnedge Avenue is the KIA, a Fifties or Sixties style building which in another... More

This is an excellent place if you love art, and don't mind getting lost in it for a few hours. Keep an eye out for rotating art, and exhibits.

I went to this museum to see the traveling exhibit of Tiffany glass and jewelry, which was wonderful, but I was impressed by the rest of the museum as well. There was a show of contemporary Michigan art which featured many different media, and there was a marvelous temporary exhibit of Asian photographs by a local photographer (equivalent to a... More

Enjoyed the Tiffany lamp and jewellery exhibit, didn't find out about it until late in the day and so did a rushed tour before closing the entrance fee was only $10.00 so I felt it was worth it.

for a small city, very nice collection of art. But it's also the classes, lectures, trips , opening up for events, art hops sales that add to it's value as an attraction. .

The KIA was a fun experience. It engages all audiences. It has art for the high brow and pretty art for the common man. All in all it was a fun experience and would go there again. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Kalamazoo for the first time.

This is a good place to spend a few hours. We saw a special exhibit on art works commenting on the envioronment, a photo essay on steinway pianos, and other wonderful pieces. I got the impression the works are always changing. There is parking across the street (next to the church). It's well marked. I would recommend this place as... More

For the locals this is a real gem. The classes they provide in a variety of different mediums is wonderful. The permanent collection has some wonderful pieces of sculpture as well as paintings. They always have a special exhibit going, and have brought in important pieces. Recommend checking to see what the special exhibit may be. The admission was a... More
