We were late to reserve a camp sure for July 4th week and were fortunate to get a site. The sure we had backed up to a cabin adjacent to the park. That took away some of the charm but it was still nice to be camping. The park itself is nice. Nice beach area. Earnings of swimmers itch but... More

I am retired and I was happy in parks as a Ranger and Asst. Mgr. and did not revisit the parks for 20 years. But my son and his wife wanted to go camping with their 3 daughters to the cherry festival. I worked in Parks in the South Eastern part of Michigan for most all of my employment. I... More

The park itself can be very crowed at times. Camping sites are narrow with NO separation. But it is less crowed than the alternatives -e.g., Traverse City. Sites have electiricy only, but there is a dump station. The GOOD part is that it is just across the street from Interlochen Center for the Arts. It is also a short distance... More

Great views of the water. Nice place to camp with many trees. Very near Interlochen Music Camp if you want to enjoy a concert.

First of all, we got lucky even being able to get a reservation as close to the Labor Day weekend. When we were checking online there were not very many sights available during our timeframe. We were looking during the weekend and there were about 30 sites open. By the time Monday came along, there were only about 4 available!... More

Very nice camp ground. Nice hiking trails, nice swimming and boating lake. Lots of play grounds for the kids. Clean bathrooms and showers. The water pressure was really bad in the showers tho. They need to work on that. Other than that great stay loved taking a walk in the woods and see a mom and almost grown fawn.

This is an old, well established state park with lots of shade. Its close to the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Sites are close together making it a challenge to back anything larger than 24 feet although some were doing it. Electric only to the sites. Water was about 35 yards away. There was a big weekend event at the... More

We stayed at one of the camper cabins in August 2013. The kids liked the store and there is a small beach with a playscape. The camper cabin we stayed in had a roll away and a bunk bed but the bottom bunk was a full size bed. There is a Wendy's and a Subway just about a mile outside... More

My family and I spent 7 days camping on the rustic side of Interlochen State Park. Definitely quieter, less campers, and much more the camping experience the modern side. The sites are large, the beach is much more private, and there is a boat launch on the rustic side that always has easy access and plenty of parking. If you... More

We use tents to camp with our five children. The lots are very well used, and the park does minimal maintenance to them. If you're planning to stay in a tent, online reservations are hit and miss whether or not your site will have to be cleared of excessive leaves, sticks and other natural debris. Also, it is best to... More
