I loved this museum and was happy to stumble upon it. It's a bargain for the admission price. I think it can appeal to all levels of education but the explanations offered are probably over the head of the average person. Still the gems and minerals and rocks are beautiful to look at even if you don't care about learning... More

Well worth the $5 admission. After perusing all the cheesy rock shops in the UP, it was so nice seeing all in a museum setting. Stunning. ..beautiful. ..educational. We learned a lot in the first part about copper history. The UV rock exhibit was so cool. Highly recommend a stop.

Wow. What an incredible place for people who love rocks and people who love to find beauty in natural objects. You could spend a few hours here. I enjoyed the layout of the museum. Easy to follow and lots of information. The previous day we had gone on the Quincy Mine tour and some displays directly related to things that... More

My wife and I expected 30 to 45 minutes to be viewing the minerals. We were pleasantly surprised by the volume of items and the amount of information that is provided. Each item has a source and includes a number from the international side. We ended up spending 2 hours and didn't realize that until we walked outside. They were... More

My husband and I visited the museum and ended up staying for 2 hours. It looks small when you walk in, but it is really very large and beautiful. The people that great you are so nice and helpful. I would definitely go back again and again and again. There is a small fee but it was well worth it.

Off in an out-of-the-way location near the Michigan Tech University (Houghton, MI) athletic facility, this museum is a real "gem!" (Sorry!!) What you see in there is absolutely stunning in it's beauty and historical presentation. For the price of admission (cheap, like $3.00) you can spend literally all day in there. We're U.P. residents and make a trip to Houghton... More

This is well worth a visit whether you are a serious rock hound or just have a passing interest in geology. There are world class specimens from the Keweenaw and excellent displays of minerals from all over the world.

This is worth the 5 dollars for adults and 2 dollars for kids. It helped pass a little time while we waited to visit the college in the area.

I love history and geography. This was a great place to visit. Took the grandkids and could hardly make them leave. We visit every trip to see family in Houghton.

Copper mining was a major part of the area. There are displays and videos on how its formed. Many beautiful specimens of many rocks and gems. I was there over 1.5 hrs and had to leave as they were closing, but there was more to see!
