Our family rented two canoes. We brought our 2 1/2 year old grandchild who sat in the center of one of the canoes. We save deer, turtles, cranes. It was a wonderful and relaxing trip. It was a little windy on Loon Lake so that did require some effort. The Trading Post was very easy to locate and we did... More

We were shown where to park and then shuttled to a starting point. The tubing was very relaxing and scenic. water was warm and the kids greatly enjoyed it as well. At the end we enjoyed our box lunches that we ordered and we had them waiting for us.

This seasonal business is really appreciated in the local area. They're a "party store" kind of place that also rents kayaks & canoes. The thing we appreciate most is the pizza. Freshly handmade by the owner, with tasty sauce & toppings. These are really nice folks - too bad it's only open 5-6 months a year!

This place has been here on the Platte River and hosts canoe/kayak/tubing down the river to Lake Michigan. It is a classic up north feel place like it should be.

We had a group of 12 adults and 15 kids (aged 3-8) so we had a number of double kayaks, canoes and tubes to accommodate our group. The tubes were used to tow along some of the kids. All of the kids were required to wear life jackets (which the Trading Post can supply). The Trading Post sells sandwiches, pizza,... More

We took out 2 double kayaks and a canoe for our group of 7 - 78, 75, 42, 41, 9, 7 and 4. We drove to the office off Deadstream Road and signed in. They typically leave on the hour, but sine they weren't busy we started around 1:25p. We drove to the Platte River Picnic area to put in.... More

If you want two hours of peaceful rest and a super slow pace on the laziest (and shallowest) 'river' - then this is the way to do it. We followed Cody driving our kayaks down to the river's end to park our car in the National Parks car park and then he gave us a lift back to the start... More

Took my son and his friends kayaking. Went with Trading Post after reading reviews of the other place. Trading Post was excellent. The owner was friendly& informative. Filled out paperwork quickly. The store sells hoagies, pizzas, and other things you might forget at the last minute. Followed their van to the take out point, parked our cars and then rode... More

My kids have been canoing, I haven't. I read reviews, etc., and decided to go with this place. I called ahead and talked to the owner, he gave me lots of great info and tips, so we knew exactly what to expect. The canoe place is part of a small store in the middle of a residential area. When you... More
