Our windmill tour was one of the highlights of our 11 day Great Lakes/Georgian Bay cruise on the Pearl Mist. The DeZwann windmill is operated and cared for by the only woman miller in the world. She received her degree from the Netherlands and gave us a demonstration of milling wheat into flour. There are many stairs inside the 250... More

My wife and I visited on August 28, 2014. The windmill tour was fascinating and the gardens provided many great photo opportunities. Just minutes from the downtown section, it provided a welcomed contrast to the shopping district.

Oldest active windmill from the Netherlands. It is also a commercial wheat mill. The docents in wooden shoes (ouch) were well informed and extremely pleasant. All the grounds are very pretty. A must see in Holland. There are no elevators in the mill, but 4 or 5 flights of stairs.

We visited the gardens twice as we enjoyed it so much the first time. The second time was in a misty rain and our photos of the tulips came out awesome with a few rain drops on them. The employees are very helpful, especially at the windmill. Very well planned gardens with lots of walking but has places to sit... More

Visiting the DeZwaan Windmill is a must see if visiting Holland, MI. It is a little out of the way and expensive, but worth seeing. The history and atmosphere is worthwhile. Great for kids of all ages!

We went on Labor Day the place was empty. The gardens were beautiful. Windmill tour worth the trip. Very interesting history of the island and windmill. The rest of the grounds needs work. The parking lot and pathway needs to be repaved.

This was not on the top of my list of places to go. I went so my wife could enjoy the gardens but we were both more impressed with the engineering the millers of Holland used to perfect their industry. The guide was wonderfully informative and courteous. Seeing we were visiting after Labor Day we had the added pleasure of... More

Visited in summer, so no tulips to see. The garden is still full of other flowers, but that alone probably does not worth the tickets. What I like is the big windmill tour -- it is a windmill in working condition, and the staff explains the design and function of each level of the windmill, I was amazed by the... More

Most beautiful gardens and the last windmill to leave the Netherlands! 250 years of history, beautifully preserved, soaring over beautiful gardens and canals. Outstanding wedding location too! Worth the stop.

We enjoyed a few hours of embracing our heritage at Windmill Island when we dropped off our daughter at Hope College. What a great time it was touring the windmill and learning how they work. There was also a lovely miniature Dutch village with a gift shop complete with wooden shoes, delft, Dutch goodies and yummy fudge! Beautiful place to... More
