We were just here mid April and everything was closed. It looks like they were getting ready to open in a few weeks. We entered one store because the door was open and there were workers inside. We asked if there was a bathroom nearby and they were very rude and acted like we were intruding. If your not open,... More

If you are in Holland, it's worth a stop to visit Windmill Island. Most notably during Tulip Time. Well, I should say when the tulips are in bloom (this is not always during Tulip Time), in fact this year due to the late spring...the tulips may be a bit late. There is a large field just filled with Tulips of... More

You can tour the real windmill. It was brought here in pieces from the Netherlands and reassembled. It is a working mill, you can purchase the flour it grinds. Beautiful flowers on the grounds, a merry go round, children's garden and playground, shops and more.

It is better to visit in late spring. The tulips are awesome. The windmill is a working windmill and came from Holland. Make sure you watch the short film on the history of windmills. Also stay to watch the clog dancing at the windmill.

We saw in the Holland tourist magazine that Wind Mill Island had a huge wind mill. We decided to check it out but didn't realize that Wind Mill Island was closed for the season still. So when we went in the middle of March, it was completely empty. It felt like an abandoned village. We walked around, which was fun,... More

We only recently learned that Holland has our very own, Dutch-trained, officially approved MILLER! She is a very knowledgable and enthusiastic operator of the 200+ year old windmill.

The entire area looks like you just stepped off the boat onto European land. The working windmill was brought over from Europe in pieces and still actually grinds grain. During the winter you can still view it but most of the other buildings are closed. In the spring with the tulips blooming, it is an awesome sight!

I visited here the week before it closed and walked the grounds and seen restoration happening on the windmill. Everyone was friendly and waved as my husband and I walked around were permitted this late in the season. I wanted to do this because I plan on a return trip May 2014 and wanted to be familiar with the surroundings... More

Here's your chance to see a real, working windmill without leaving the Midwest. The windmill was brought over from Europe in pieces, reassembled here and actually grinds grain. During spring, summer and fall, you can go into the windmill. The entire area looks like it came right out of Europe. The gardens are lovely. It seemed a little pricey (I... More
