IMHO, this is one of the best beaches. There is plenty of room for everyone on the beach, although on busy days, parking may be a problem, and it is a clean beach. Big Red, situated on the channel across from the beach, is one of the historic lighthouses in Michigan and fun to see. A fishing pier sits across... More

If you are in Holland, it's a must see. Beautiful beach and beautiful lighthouse, called Big Red. There are nice beaches in the area that you can get to without paying the State Park fee, but Ottawa Beach is worth a couple dollars to get in.

Can be very busy in the summer but wonderful place to walk and spend time on the beach. We go almost every weekend in the spring and fall. Too busy for us in the summer. Drive out there can be slow in the summer months.

I enjoyed the college twin feel; the Center for African American Arts & History (call to do a special visit); the Kilwins store's Carmel Apple; JPs Coffee Shop's Sugar Free Carmel Latte; Eighth Street Grill's Chicken Corn Chowder & Chicken salad sand which; Model Drug Stores Pandora Tulip bead; Home & Company's cheap gift prices; Windmill Restaurant's Dutch Omelette; 84... This is the nicest beach in Michigan. We love coming down to watch the sunsets and we often rent bikes from Beachside Bike Rental (located just before the state park) and cruise the great bike paths in the area. The big red lighthouse is also fun to see!

The Holland State park beach is a favorite summer locale for me. The amenities are nice, the beach is fairly large, and the fishing off of the pier can be very good. The Pier: Good fishing, great area to talk a walk on, and perfect for watching the boats come in and out of the lake. Parking: The parking situation... More

I live in Holland where the beaches are plentiful and gorgeous. Holland State Park is among those beauties. The best feature is the accessibility-- the beach is flat and very close to the water with boardwalks for those not wanting to climb a dune or hike a mile to the beach. The downside is it gets CROWDED in the summer,... More

Holland State Park Beach is a wonderful beach for families. Gentle waves, shallow water near shore, wonderful white sand.

stayed here many years over the decades, a wonderful place. walk the pier, down the beach, ask about trails to the dunes where you can see both lake michigan and lake macatawa. even now with my folks being elderly and too old to walk the beach, we can stop and park near the canal, take a picnic and watch the...
