We went with some great expectations, based on the reviews here, so had high hopes for both an interesting and informative day. Totally worth the walk up from our hotel. It's a stunning piece of property right in the city, and while I enjoy much of Wright's work, I don't always love it - too austere sometimes - too predictable... More

Okay, let me preface this by saying that I grew up in the Chicago area. I've been mystified and enamored by FLW creations for most of my life. In fact he inspired me to consider architecture as a career, a dream that never materialized. Steelcase, a manufacturer of office environments for decades, is the benefactor that made this incredible restoration... More

My daughter and I visited last year and did the tour of the Meyer May House. The grounds were beautiful and property was stunning. It was a free tour, the houses were extremely knowledgeable, and it lasted well over an hour. Afterwards my daughter and I spent the day walking around Heritage Hill looking at all the historic homes. It... More

If you are into architecture at all this home is worth taking the time to see. The restoration is remarkable and the cost of the restoration must have been great. The docent mentioned that it was an unlimited budget, and they went over that. Our group of three loved the tour, although the group was a little big. They allow... More

As major fan of Frank Lloyd Wright I have visited many of his structures across the country. None has been as beautifully restored as the Meyer May House. I understand the restoration was funded by a Grand Rapids furniture company. (I wish I could remember the company name as they certainly deserve a plug.) Obviously, no expense was spared. It... We recently visited Grand Rapids and took the opportunity to tour the Meyer May Home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. What a treat! Anyone who likes FLW architecture would enjoy this restored prairie style house. Built in 1908 it was custom made for Mr May and the guides at the sight can point out certain aspects of the design that... More

Excellent presentation and tour of the home, knowledgeable guide to take you through and points out the FLW characteristics and mandates of his structure. A gem of a find in Grand Rapids.

I always knew this was in Grand Rapids but had never gotten around to touring it. Our docent, Sue, was great. Go to their website for days/times and allow enough time to start out next door for the video.

The introductory movie was silly - making a single house sound like a religious experience, but the house tour was great. Neat decor and architecture and history. Also free!

to have a Frank Lloyd Wright house in our own city? People travel all through the country to see FLW homes; most of them have an admission and few of them have guided tours. We owe a debt of gratitute to Steelcase, Inc., which completely renovated this beauty in the 80s and now opens it for FREE tours on Tuesdays,... More
