I live across Lafayette, the western boundary of the Hill, so I walk there most days with my dogs and never stop being surprised by the houses themselves and the lovely gardens that the owners put so much work into. The Tour of Homes is the 3rd weekend in May and totally worth the price of the ticket to see... More

When I first moved to GR this is the neighborhood I lived in. I came here in the wake of Hurricane Katrina so I really didn't have an awful lot to my name. This seemed to be at first glance a safe and beautiful neighborhood. After only a couple of days my bike got stolen from my garage. After 7... More

I live in the historic district & love it; 2nd largest district in US with 1200 homes from 1860 to 1925 styles; was"the" place to live at turn of 1900 with great mansions and open spaces; great for walking and convenient to downtown GR More

This is the oldest designated historical district in the country! Has two Frank Lloyd Wrights, one being the unbeatable Meyer May home. Loads of grand homes, most very well taken care of. Has its annual hosted tour in October, but you can pick up a free walking tour guide at their office and do it anytime. Try to visit during... More

In October, several of the homes in the Grand Rapids Heritage Hill District open for a tour. The area is very walkable as most of the homes are near each other, and it is a nice neighborhood. The architecture is amazing and the tour is quite inexpensive and entertaining. More

This district deserves many more inns and could become a wonderful and well known area for inns if the area's museums and restaurants and city tourism would support and help publicize inns. Disappointed that the Meyer May museum down the street didn't even have any information supporting the rest of the neighborhood - could have supported the neighborhood. More

Merely a collection of late 19th century homes (wsith one excellent exception) near downtown GR, for architecture buffs it is a fun stroll through a kind of neighborhood that is vanishing. Head there first by car, to see the protected and preserved Meyer May house, designed by F. L. Wright. Tours are the only way to get inside. Every bit... More

Beautifully reconditioned and well-maintained historic homes of over 100 years old are impressive to view. Some streets are one-way and parking makes them narrow, but it's worth a ride through town on your way to get to someplace else. More
