The museum wasn't very big but it was nice. Since we were there the week before Art Prize, some of the galleries were closed but they warned us in advance and there was a discount so that was fine. They have an excellent gift shop too.

A must when visiting GR. Take your time, plan on at least 2.5 hours to make your way around. Well organized and gift shop is well stocked.

GRAM was preparing for the city's Art Prize event so there were no special exhibitions opened...we did receive a discount, however. I appreciated that this museum not only displays the traditional 'dead' and established artists, but also displays emerging artists, particularly previous Art Prize recipients

Our first venture to the GRAM was fun and we loved the art! The crowds were the longest for this venue, but the wait was well worth it.

Wonderful building and a very strong collection of 20th Century art. If you like the German Expressionists, the art and design of the 20th century in general, and appreciate the craft arts, you will love this place! Be sure not to miss the Maya Lin piece across the street from the museum. The staff is super friendly as well!

The GRAM is a rather small art museum that you can blitz in an hour or less. It has a comfortable lobby where you can rest your tired feet on comfy sofas if you don't want to climb the stairs for a deeper look. Don't miss the Picasso on the second floor .... Probably the best art piece in the... More

This was our first time into the downtown heart of Grand Rapids. It was free for us to get into the museum as it was a meijer free tuesday during the summer. It is a very nice museum with many interesting things to see. I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay for my kids to get in after... More

We were killing time in Grand Rapids and had already been to the Gerald Ford Museum. The Public Museum was more for kids, and so we went to the Art Museum. We were glad that we had North American reciprocal privileges here because there wasn't much to see;however, we always enjoy looking at any art collections we find.

The museum isn't huge so you don't have to take a ton of time to see it. There are 3 floors, with much of the room being given to temporary exhibits. The current exhibit, "Michigan Modern: Design That Shaped America" was extremely interesting and diverse. The museum space itself is very sparse and is all about the exhibits. We aren't... More

If it's this or the Meijer Sculpture Garden, definitely go to the Sculpture Garden. But if you need an hour or two of indoor activity, this will be entertaining. My favorite exhibit was four sewn panels of a lake scene by Ann Loveless. So gorgeous, and I can't even imagine how long it took to make. Admission's not that expensive,... More
