I've enjoyed visiting the GRAM several times in the past few years thanks to the free admission on Thursday nights. I'm not a particular fan of modern or contemporary art, so the top floor is a bit gauche for my tastes, but overall it's a pleasant way to spend an hour. There are some nice, smaller Impressionist pieces that are... More

MUSEUM: Located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids the Art museum's beautiful contemporary building is a nice compliment to the many other modern buildings found in the downtown area. The size and scope of the museum's collection and exhibitions made it easy to take everything in, within a few hours. The simplicity of the museum's interior, makes the art... More

I was there for two years (at Artprize) I loved the art pieces in the Gram. The drawing with the animals piled one on top of another...the GIANT glass flowers that were absolutely stunning...alien looking neon pieces with lights. There have been so many memorable pieces there. I really enjoyed my visit there. (I'm not sure of the month that... More

The GRAM is a wonderful place not only for the art, but also for special events and intimate musical concerts. We went on a Sunday afternoon to hear a recital by renowned pianist Ralph Votapek. It was great, then we spent time touring the art. Great space, great art, and a good shop to purchase souvenirs. Friday's at the GRAM... More

As a member, we often visit the GRAM. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the art collection is constantly being rotated. In addition to the museum's collection, the exhibits brought in are interesting as well. The gift shop has some fun items in it, so be sure to check that out.

This is a nice, well laid out art museum. It is big enough to handle large, special exhibits such as the Princess Di exhibit they had a few years ago. They have special children's art activities on the lower level taught by student artists. In the fall, they house many of the better ArtPrize exhibits. They are right next to... More

The collection itself is like a box of bonbons with one of each flavour. There were some beautiful single examples of artists and periods but not enough mass to give the collection an overall personality. Beautiful space. Overpriced for the experience. The display, In the Air, was a joy.

We went to this Art Museum and we choose it because it was convenient. We wanted to do something quickly and had heard it was a small museum. It can be done in 1-2 hours easily. So if you like art museums and want to spend an hour or two there it accomplishes that goal. If you are expecting to... More

I need to start by saying I've never been to the big Art museums in NY. However I have been to some in Washington DC and Chicago and plenty of smaller ones throughout Michigan. So I finally get myself to go to my hometown one and what did I think? LAME They could do so much better. The 1st floor... More

Tuesday was their free day. Not much to see on our visit, but the staff was friendly. We enjoyed the american impressionist section. The second floor was not open as they were changing exhibits.
