Based on reviews here, I went by the Voight House in late August after visiting Meyer May House nearby midday on a Thursday. There was no one there and there were no postings of opening hours. The sign in front indicated that it was operated by the Grand Rapids Public Museum. I inquired at the Heritage Hill office across the... More

Wait, did this just happen? Yes it did! How this family kept this home as a museum piece is beyond me but I am so thankful they did! So much history in one home and so many wonderful antique pieces saved for us to enjoy. What a great tour and trip into yesteryear. This is really a gem for the... More

This home is located in the Heritage Hill District of Grand Rapids. It is very interesting to see how some of the more affluent lived in the past. Fabric hanging on the walls, a back staircase so the servants would not be seen. And they were one of the first family's in GR to get a telephone. It was a... More

Always fun to visit and try to put yourself in the early 20th century's way of life for an upper middle class family in a midwestern city. The furniture, the decor bring it to life and tho it's fun, I'm happy that I was born in the mid century!

It's too bad there is not enough interest for it to be open all the time. I hosted a tea there and we used the family china. It was great fun.

We see this house occasionally when we do the HH tour in the spring. It's a wonderfully preserved home, right down to the wallpaper. If you want to know what a real Victorian home looked like inside, this will give you an excellent glimpse into the past.

Your choice of dates won't fit when I've been there. I've probably been to the Voight House four times and I would go back in a heartbeat! I've been with Girl Scouts, a high school art class, and during the Heritage Hill Home Tour. It is absolutely beautiful and so well preserved! The docents are extremely knowledgeable. A must if... We used to tour Voigt House every few years. It was always such a fun time hearing about how this family lived and seeing the different artifacts. Always very special. What a pity it is closed! While I marked the earliest available date for visiting Voigt House, it's been several years since we've had the chance to tour it. When... More
