Attended the Great lakes Kite Festival for the 2nd year. All kinds of kite flying teams from California, Chicago, Canada and of course Michigan. They fly many kites at once in time to music. You can bring a chair and enjoy. The park itself is great. Lake Michigan beach sand is wonderful. You can walk out the breakwater to the... More

Apparently there is a fee to park at this beach, although there was no one in the booth, no machine that I could find to buy one, and no sign saying it was free until such and such a date or where to buy a pass. I would have willingly paid the $9, but instead I parked at Grand Haven... More

A delightful place to visit. A nice beach for strolling or sunning. Great to bring along a picnic, tables are provided. Nice lighthouse along a jetty. Camping is available beachside. Don't miss the stunning sunsets!

It's early and they are still moving beach sand. Huge parking and assigned spaces. Looks like a great place for the summer. We were their on April 21 and it was windy and cold. Good place to get your picture of the lighthouse. I expect this is a great place to visit in the summer based upon what we observed.

Everyone loves the warmth of the state park in the summer. The beauty you see in the winter will be enough to warm your heart and soul on that chilly day you take the sight in. A must see even in the winter.

I had never been to a beach in the dead of winter and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was staying nearby and thought it would be interesting to check out a beach in February. This is one of the best travel decisions I have ever made. The landscape was fascinating. The sand was frozen and left foot impressions... More

I wouldn't want to camp there. The lots are all cement and very, very close together, can't even put your trailer canopy up without hitting the next trailer & there's no place to park your vehicle. Don't think there are fire pits for campfires (and what fun is camping without a campfire) The pier walk is always fun, as is the... More

You can't get a better beach or sand. Pack your beach gear and a light lunch. Spend the day building a sand castle or splashing in the water. Kids will love it and sleep like a baby at night.

This state park has a really amazing beach, almost pure white. Got crowded as the day wore on. Very nice pier and lighthouse.
