A lovely place to visit for a walk in gardens by the water - and the most wonderful cafe. We visited on a beautiful. sunny day and could have spent all day relaxing here. The cafe has a huge selection of cakes and biscuits and a wide variety of drinks. We ate outside in a relaxing cafe area. Staff were... More

Only a 40-45 minute drive from the Capital Stockholm you'll find this lovely spot by the water. It's also possible to arrive via Mariefred if the steamboats are running. Another way of getting here is via the miniature gauge railway from Mariefred to the station of Taxinge Näsby. Lovely ground for a picnic weather permitting. There is a cafe in... More

600 kms from Stockholm city lies this beautiful castle and park. They are famous for their "all homemade" cake and biscuit buffet. Anybody can find something they like among all the cakes/biscuits. The surroundings are beautiful with lovely parks, an Italian garden and an English garden and the lake just below. You can sit both indoors in the castle itself... More

Overall it's a nice place, but not much to do if the weather is bad. Main attraction - definately the cafe, because it has beatiful interior and delicious cakes. It's also a good place to have a picnic with a nice weather.

This place offers around 60 different cakes and cookies - self service. Nice settings next to a big lake. I do not know if you can visit the castle as well as most of the people just go there for cakes and coffee.

I really enjoyed a visit with a couple of friend. We had some bad luck with some cake, as some pieces were not exactly our taste. Some other pieces were really, really good though!

We visited Taxinge-Nasby on a cool (cold!) summer day in early June when the rain had finally stopped and the wind died down. The 'castle' is not in the same league as Gripsholm in Mariedfred, but this can be reached by boat and narrow-gauge railway (neither operating on the day). The manor house is a beautiful construction and the views... More

I had read about this place and so we took a daytrip from Stockholm and included Taxinge Castle and it's cake buffet into to the trip. Wonderful cakes, beautiful surroundings. I am happy we didn't come in the busy season though, the dining room was packed and fairly small.

Taxinge Castle isn't really a castle, it's an estate with a manor house. In Swedish these are also called castles. Built in 1813 by the von Wahrendorff family in Näsby, about 60 km south of Stockholm, the history of the grounds where it sits stretch back all the way to the early 13th century. The manor house itself isn't much... More
