This trail system has numerous options depending on where you want to start and how far you want to hike or ski. The skiing is great and the area is very quiet and relaxing. Realize that there are no dogs allowed on the trail during ski season. Also, you need to have a park pass for Sleeping Bear Dunes National... More

We hiked on this trail 4 years ago and took a 7 mile hike yesterday morning. We saw a pileated woodpecker along with some deer. The trail itself is excellent and the soil drains well do its not muddy. It's not as popular as some other trails but we enjoyed it. I would like to come back with our snowshoes... More

We have visited Sleeping Bear Dunes a number of times, but this was our first time checking out the Plains trails, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The trails are beautiful and peaceful, looping through woodland terrain. It does not seem like these trails see much use (I'm guessing because they don't go to the beach?). I'd like to thank...
