The drive was very pretty and the overlooks were plentiful. Stop #9 is the absolute must. Takes a little walk along a boardwalk but the view is spectacular. Went ALL the way down the dune to the lakeshore which meant we had to come back up which was a workout, but worth it. The water color is so beautiful and... More

Thjs was a great drive and a fun place to visit. We did not tske the challenge of going all the way down to the water on the very steep shore slope but lots of others did and most made it back up. :-). We also went on the cottonwood trail and sort of made our own next to that... More

Nice board walk. Watch your young kids close because this could be dangerous if they get away from you.

We didn't have much time to spend but this was well worth it. The Dune Overlook was the most worth it - but don't try to climb down to the beach. It 100's of feet down and a very steep incline. We saw people on their hands and knees trying to get back up the slop. If you must climb... More

Recently on a two day trip to the Leelanau and Sleeping Bear Dunes area, we decided to drive this road and stop at the points of interest. I am really glad we did. I took many photos of the dunes, the woods and the lake. We went early morning so it was not too crowded. There were a couple stops... More

Sites nine and 10 are the main stops. U have to buy a national park pass for $10. We thought out state park pass would get us in. Wrong. Dtr attempted the 350 foot sand dune. O my. Half way down and decided to turn around. Lol.

There are about 12 possible overlooks where you can get out and view the sights if you want to. Sunsets are beautiful over Lake MI.

The drive is absolutely gorgeous! We loved getting to take our time to explore and take photos wherever we wanted. We didn't use the trails because it was extremely hot and I was pregnant while there, but I'd love to explore these more some other time. Not every marked spot is incredible, but there are certain ones that are breathtaking.... More

There is so much to see and experience on this short tour. Pack a picnic and make it happen. One of the best places for this. Don't neglect to see the "tree" along the way. It is stunning.

We did this drive after climbing the Dune Climb at Sleeping Bear Dunes. The guide they give you at the Visitors' Center explains each stop, so I read those aloud to the family as my husband drove. The drive itself is gorgeous, and then you get to some of the stops and they just take your breath away. A few... More
