It's all that. 80 years of history decorates the walls with some of the best singers in the world crossing the threshold. We started with an early dinner of delicious food cooked with true Detroit Soul. Ribs, corn bread, mashed yams and Jack Daniels with Coke back... then settled in for the first of three sets with Alan Barnes and... More

As a Brit travelling from Australia to the US for a conference, i had to book a stopover in Detroit to visit the oldest Jazz bar in the States and I was not disappointed. Travelling in a group of girls all under 26 years of age, we turned up at the door on a saturday evening (8pm) only to find... More

yesterday was my first time at Bakers and I loved it, yes the place is small, but who cares when your server, food, and entertainment are all top notch! I will definitely be returning and spreading the word. depending on what time you arrive i believe there may be a small fee to enter, we paid $10 (i assume because... More

Went to Bakers to show some friends a good time and I called about the dress code was told no jeans or hip hop attire and we walked in and everybody had on jeans. They are very crowned and it they are cramming the people in. A lot different then I remember from the 80's and early 90's

My husband and I went here while visiting some family members in Detroit. The evening started at 9:30pm and we are early birds so we were reluctant when deciding to go out. Boy, are we glad we pushed ourselves out the door. Next time we're in town, we'll definitely go back! Here's a snapshot of what we thought of our... More

What all can I say about Baker's Keyboard Lounge? You may have noticed it in the recent rendition of the movie "Sparkle," but it is way more than a set location for me...it is a Detroit institution. I have sat in other countries and missed it. Something about the music, the people, the space is precious for me. That particular... More

Good food and great jazz. No better place on the west side for short ribs and jazz at the same place.

This is hidden Gem because its in a neighborhood that used to be very lavish and because most of the cities residents have forgotten about it and its history of entertainers that performed there in the past. Non-locals frequent more often than the locals however, they still showcase local as well as national artist. The atmosphere is one that only... More
