Downtown Detroit has been abuzz lately with the opening of new restaurants and shops, the building of the M-1 commuter rail down Woodward Avenue, a bustling convention business, the renovation of numerous buildings and wonderful public art projects. Here's what you'll find. DINING: There's quite a variety of restaurants in the downtown area, something for every budget. While Detroit in... More

Last time I visited, downtown was neglected. Detroit city deserves better than this, it had so much to add to American History.

Downtown Detroit has been making a comeback lately due to the influence of certain people, in particular Dan Gilbert. The downtown area centered around Campus Martius is being revitalized and it's great to be able to walk around and see all the history, beautiful architecture, eat the huge variety of great food and see a hockey, baseball, or football game.... Impossible to get around town. We went to the Tigers game & thought we we would grab a bite in the downtown area. Forget it, construction everywhere,it will probably be great once it's done. Not very traveler friendly at the moment.

It's definitely on the comeback trail! There is so much to do within walking distance,. Start at one of the waterfront festivals and wander in to Greektown for some great food and drink in one of the restaurants before donating your money to the Casino. (There is more than one casino that would be willing to take your money). There... More

Visited this lovely city whilst staying with relatives in Michigan in 1991. At the time we found it very friendly, even the police were friendly and had photos taken with them and their motorcycles. Ate afternoon tea in the rooftop restaurant at the top of 92 foot building, it was very interesting - could see over the River Windsor into... More

As I was on a business trip to the US and had very limited weekends , I did not want to let go of any weekend . Since the trip to the Niagara falls was cancelled the earlier weekend , I wanted to visit some place . I searched and found the Detroit downtown one of the popular place in... More

They really have cleaned up downtown Detroit. I think it is because of the beautiful casino right in the middle of the downtown area. That was a really good idea. It brought us into the downtown area.

I enjoy DT, but you must go to the right places: the majestic or the magic stick, the DIA, Dumouchelles, Lafayette Coney, Union Street, D'Mongos, Cliff Bells, Greektown

Detroit has come a long way. There will still be hiccups along the way, but they're cleaning up this city and many new restaurants and business's are coming to the downtown area. Dan Gilbert has done a lot along with the Illich family, GM and a few others. I go down there from time to time for for ball games... More
