Actually a beautiful town, not at all like I expected.. Lots of beautiful architecture both old and new. We walked all through the town and felt safe. There seems to be a lot to do here we just visited for a few hours. There were concerts, art shows, all kinds of things going on. There seemed to be a pride... More

I couldn't find a place to write about DHive/Experience Detroit (they are changing their name) specifically, so I will put it here. I signed up for a walking tour through their website. It lasts 2 hours, and is lead by a few members who spout off fun facts and history of the streets, buildings, statues, business, and downtown as a... More

"Downtown" Detroit is wonderful. The River Walk along the Detroit river is quite nice. Especially between Cobo and the Renaissance Center (Ren Cen). Opera House is alive and micro brews and a deep fried Twinkie are a great way to end the night across the street. The M5 project will bring easier access to the beautiful Fox theater and the... More

I only spent half a day in downtown Detroit this last trip, and that was more than enough time. The city is still empty from the recession, and it is very depressing that such a great American city seems abandoned.

Unfortunately the downtown core felt very unsafe, which is too bad because there is potential for it to be so much better. I hope to visit the city again one day when it is a bit more prosperous and safer to enjoy.

As stated in the title, it is a great place to go visit. But if you are uncomfortable driving down one-way streets in many parts of Downtown Defroit, avoid driving in Detroit. Also try to avoid Downtown Detroit when there is a Tigers game, Lions game, Red Wings game, or a multitude of other events (ie. concerts) due to the... More

Many people talk bad about Detroit, but they have never been to Downtown Detroit. Downtown Detroit is redeveloping itself into the new modern city. New stores, new hotels, and new eateries have sprung up across downtown. It maybe a work in progress, but it is worth the visit.

City is good as its the motor city but most of the part is vacated because of 2008 slow down. So much can be seen here like Gm Ren. center, Belle island, Bar, casino, Tiger's Baseball playground and Fox Theater. People mover is also a historic icon to the city. Only weird thing is less people and empty building.

My niece and I drove into Detroit for a day visit. It was interesting to see the run down and burned out buildings on the way in. When we got into the city we went into the REN centre (which was a total contrast) and did the tour, which was pretty amazing. You did not have to go very far... More
