Was on a tour of downtown Detroit and walked through the park. I guess with the city's bankruptcy... maintenance has not been a priority here. The fountain was not on, and looked as if had not been on in some time with all the grass growing through the pavers. I would skip this and head down to the ricer front... More

I've been to Hart Plaza many times and have always struggled to get the gist of what it's supposed to be. It became clear to me on my most recent visit when I spent the day there with some European friends, showing them around Detroit. One woman who was with us thought the monuments looked like tributes to communism. I... More

Memorial to the Underground Railroad is impressive, right on the river. Nice view across the river to Windsor, Canada

Couldn't see much due to snow blocking to side walks. Did see Canada and was a great sight and the big fist statue. Could use better cross walks and parking.

The only reason we go here is because it is close to the riverfront/riverwalk. Otherwise it is a giant park of concrete and metal that lacks beauty. Festivals happen here but otherwise not a great park. A little scary at night and could use a guard/ patrol or too when it's dark.

It's the middle of the summer vacation, and not a tourist in sight. Maybe this is a typical day for the city, or it's just the wrong time of year. But during my visit, the Plaza felt abandoned. It looks incomplete... feels like a bunch of statues and structures scattered around the plaza. I felt safe walking around the plaza... More

My husband and I have been regular visitors to Hart Plaza since 1980. There's a skating rink for winter activity and it is home to many summer and fall festivals for music and other events.

Where can you stand in Detroit and see skyscrapers, giant freighters, Canada, and one of the oddest fountains ever? Hart Plaza. In summer the plaza hosts lively ethnic festivals and other events. It is also a gateway to the Riverwalk along the Detroit River and to the top of the Renaissance Center for a panoramic view of the area.

I have grown up and worked in Detroit mot of my life and Hart Plaza is just one of those places that evokes a great sense of pride in the Motorcity.
