Hart Plaza is a gem. A great place for music events and festivals. We spend every memorial weekend at Hart Plaza for Movement festival. This place will always hold a very special place in my heart.

On a brisk wind chilled January day we walked the Plaza with 100's of other tourists with a great view of the river, city and architecture. It's another reason to visit the new Detroit - enjoy the changes.

Eveytime I get to be in Detroit, I feel the need to stop at Hart Plaza, its real heart. This city has gone through so much... despite all the economic and cultural issues in the past few decades, this place is the real proof that Detroit can shine. One day, this city will rise once again, even better than before,... More

i have been there hundreds of times, you can be there for the different festivals or board the dinner or sight seeing boats, walk the Riverwalk, and or go there just to see the fireworks that happen just before the fourth of July. i would say just go there if you want a place that peaceful and relaxing, if you... This is great walkway on the riverfront. We also enjoy in the summer looking out at the water after enjoying a restaurant.

Hart Plaza is a 14 acre space, mostly concrete, that can accommodate around 40,000 people. Great place for summer festivals, concerts and events. It was named after the late US Senator Philip Hart. In its center you will find the futuristic Dodge Fountain designed by Noguchi on 1978. There is also a small amphitheater for concerts and plenty of space... More

Located near Detroit's beautiful Riverfront, Hart Plaza plays host to some of the cities biggest events including the free International Jazz Festival and Movement, Detroit's world-renowned Electronic Music Festival. In addition, there are several points of interest worth seeing here. The futuristic Dodge fountain and Pylon by Isamu Noguchi. The fountain is at it's best when it's running in the... More

This was once a thriving area of the D. I agree with the previous poster, the atmosphere AND safety depends on the event and type of people it draws. I didn't see even 1 police officer while we were there. I didn't feel safe.

This use to be a very nice area. However the last time I was there I noticed it was not being cared for like it use to be. Now it is starting to look neglected. Depending on the event and the people it attracts I may not be the safest location.
