What a fantastic tour of our great city of Detroit for fellow Cooley classmates that came into town for their high school 50th reunion. Many classmates have not been back to where they were born and raised in many, many years and live out of state. One classmate who took the tour lives in Amnan, Jordan and loved visiting Detroit.... The skyscraper tour was tremendous, from its start in the Pontchartrain Hotel all the wat through theGORGEOUS lobbys of the Guardian and Dime Buildings,to the awe-spiring CLIMAX 565 feet above Detroit on the ROOF of the Penobscot Building!!! There is a taller vantage point in the nearby Marriot Hotel, but there is NOTHING that quite beats being nearly SIX-HUNDRED feet from the... More

I went on a walking tour of downtown with Preservation Detroit, as well as a different neighborhood tour of the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood that they and various state and community organizations organized. Both tours were wonderful and so informative! Our tour guides for the downtown tour (who volunteer their time and effort to give these tours) were phenomenal...they were friendly, very... More

First off, it is helpful to remember the Eastern Market Tour, like all of the Preservation Detroit tours, is run by volunteers. My husband and I had attended two other tours before doing the E. M. tour today. The first one of Downtown we really enjoyed. The second one, of Midtown, was not so good. And today's tour falls in... More

I had a great time on the Downtown Detroit walking tour. Our guide, Keven (he explained that his name is often misspelt) was super friendly and happy to answer all questions. We kept a good walking past between stops, but had enough time to stop, look around, explore the sights, chat with locals, and run off to buy water on... More

My girlfriend and I took a tour of the Eastern Market while we were in Detroit from Toronto for the May long weekend, and we both loved it. We were staying near Lafayette Park and walked over to the appointed meeting place in about 10 minutes. It was informative, fun, and brisk but still substantive, and our guides were extremely... My wife and I just attended the Eastern Market Walking Tour. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the volunteers and how much we learned about the art, culture, and hidden gems in and around Eastern Market. Not only was it an enjoyable history lesson, but it made me want to come back and spend more time on my... More

Our group of three (one of whom had never been to Detroit, one who had been once, and one who visits often) took the Downtown Tour, led by Ken and "shepherded" by Tyler. Both had a lot of knowledge about what we were seeing, their fondness for Detroit was clear, and they were happy to answer questions. We began at... More

We've done a couple of the Preservation tours and found them all to be excellent. The guides are very knowledgeable and interesting, and provide an amazing insight into the history of Detroit.

We took the downtown tour - was lead by a very knowledgeable guide ; we took in Hart Plaza, saw lots of outdoor art , through the theatre district, greek town, germantown , along Woodward , learned of now long gone department stores and into the business district where you will see gorgeous older office towers built with character and...
