This is a stunning building from the art deco period. You must walk inside. There are a couple of shops and a place to get coffee. But you are really there to see the stained glass, murals, Pewabic pottery and everything else. You only need 15 to 20 minutes here but it is worth the extra trip. You are close... More

Architecturally a delight. Also contains the Detroit Shop where one can purchase interesting Detroit and automotive related souvenirs.

The most beautiful old building in Detroit. You can't help but be wowed by the interior, full of art and architecture.

Outstanding architecture in downtown Detroit. Great example of early 1900's design. There is a cafe and shop on the main floor and there is no charge to walk in and take a look. Make sure you check out the ceiling and the murals at the back near the bank.

This National Historic 36 story building built in the 1920's is a beautiful Art Deco Mayan Revival. The interior is elaborately decorated with Pewabic & Rookwood tiles. The attention to Native American detail is immediately evident. Up the stairs at the back walk is a beautiful mural. The mural celebrates Michigan's industry, agriculture and prosperity in the 1920s. There is... More

Definitely pop your head into this building even if for just ten minutes to see the amazing architecture and murals! You may want to check out the retail shops that sell American-made items such as Harvey handbags (seatbelt bags). Additionally, there is a Bank of America inside for anyone needing to make a transaction.

This building is most famous for the use of Pewabic Pottery tiles. It is stunning and worth going to see. Unfortunately you can not really tour the building. So, I just recommend stopping nearby, taking a quick look and then continuing on.

The outside of The Guardian is impressive, but the inside is absolutely stunning. Tourists are not permitted past the lobby and shopping area. People can sit and take a break with a snack and coffee. There is a great little shop called Pure where one can get Detroit souvineers. This is my second visit to The Guardian and I was... More
