A group of my cousins were strolling around downtown Detroit - and stumbled across the Guardian Building. We were thrilled that it was open for us to look around. It was absolutely gorgeous. A gem of a building for downtown Detroit. If you like architecture - you should not miss visiting this beautiful building. And best of all they had... More

The exterior of The Guardian building draws you in because of its unique design. It was called the Cathedral of finance and has one of the largest suspended ceilings in the world. The colors and designs of the interior are lovely. At the end of the main banking floor there is a 5 story mural with references to the industries... More

We made a point of visiting this building on our walk around downtown Detroit. The lobby is amazing, and the ceiling of the bank portion was being repaired. So happy to see that this landmark has been preserved. Be sure to visit Pure Detroit shop in the lobby for local souvenirs.

It's one of many downtown high rise buildings with impressive styling and art. Surprise! the bank guard let me take lots of pictures on the teller stations under the amazing graphics inside. Other than that, it's about a 10 minute visit total.

Free entry into a building that looks like a church, amazing! This building was part of a tour we did of Detroit. Lots of building work going on outside. Inside there is an opportunity to take a longer tour of the building but we were on a tight schedule. Bought a couple of things at the little shops there. Lovely... More

Really, really beautiful building that is worth popping into. It's such a treasure and so worth seeing that it's hard for me to rate it below a four. We visited on a tour and having someone explain the building to us was well worth it. I wish the lobby was more open on weekends and they offered tours of the... More

Show up and a professional Urban Planner took us on a tour of the building, telling us the story of it's inception, its evolution and its design. We also learned about the families and the historical context. Well preserved art deco building with an indoor café and a gift shop. Our docent was terrific and the weather behaved. Good use... More
