Amazing range of restaurants, bakeries and shops, this place is really hopping when sporting events are going on in the city. A bit gritty on the edges and there are some rough spots, but just use some common sense, lock your car doors when you park in visible, well-lit areas and you should be fine.

My first time in Mexicantown. I didn't get to experience everything and will need a return visit to see more. But the area was definitely interesting and inspirational. The food was pretty good and the weather that day was amazing. It is a great place for indoor and out door things so I will make sure I return before summer... More

It's just a Hispanic enclave of Detroit, nothing special. It's perfectly safe. Bumble Bee Supermarket has a good eclectic selection of Hispanic and American foods, very good produce and meats. Good tamales. Actually, there are a number of good tamale take out places in Mexicantown. I haven't found any Mexican restaurants that are anything special, no better than you would... More

I come here often for great food an margaritas. If you are looking for an upscale place this isn't it. It is great tasting Mexican food in an older restaurant. A must is the flaming cheese it is so good. Also they have 3 type of margaritas that are a must try.

My coworkers and I go here often. Just to get together and have food and drinks, for work parties, etc. Working in downtown Detroit at the Medical Center, Mexican village is very convenient. the food is always good and the prices are reasonable.

My favorite Mexican restaurant bar none. The flaming cheeses, home made taco chips and salsa, 3 meat fajitas, Margaritas, are excellent. Go straight there, and leave the same way. Detroit really is scary.

The drive down to Mexican Town was a bit difficult but once there it was fantastic. We ate at Xochimilco - We were told they have the best enchiladas. Then we wondered down to La Gloria Bakery. This bakery has every pastry you could imagine. You grab a tray and all your pastry dreams just get loaded up. It is... More

Lots of authentic, great Mexican food here. The surrounding area could be described as a little seedy, but most restaurants have security monitoring their parking lots. Recommended stop while in Detroit.

The Mexicantown area is fairly small (a few blocks) and comprises of several large restaurants, bakery and novelty shops. It's a popular area for restaurant goers but does not offer other attractions which I believe lessens it's appeal. It is a short drive from downtown Detroit and located right off the highway.

Great place for meal prior to or after sporting or theater event! Food is authentic and there is plenty of it! "Take home" is allowed!
