The drive down to Mexican Town was a bit difficult but once there it was fantastic. We ate at Xochimilco - We were told they have the best enchiladas. Then we wondered down to La Gloria Bakery. This bakery has every pastry you could imagine. You grab a tray and all your pastry dreams just get loaded up. It is... More

Lots of authentic, great Mexican food here. The surrounding area could be described as a little seedy, but most restaurants have security monitoring their parking lots. Recommended stop while in Detroit.

The Mexicantown area is fairly small (a few blocks) and comprises of several large restaurants, bakery and novelty shops. It's a popular area for restaurant goers but does not offer other attractions which I believe lessens it's appeal. It is a short drive from downtown Detroit and located right off the highway.

Great place for meal prior to or after sporting or theater event! Food is authentic and there is plenty of it! "Take home" is allowed!

First off, Detroiters don't call this Mexicantown, they call it Mexican Village. This is a smallish neighborhood (8 square blocks or so) where a lot of Mexican immigrants live. It also happens to feature some wonderful restaurants. But the area is not stellar to walk around. If you are going down, park, go to your restaurant, and drive away. Good... More

The restaurant experience is outstanding. We frequent xchochimilco's (spelling) wonderful Mexican cuisine. We also like the bakery/cookies. At times you have to wait, but it is worth it.

Do not miss the culture within in a culture that is Detroit's Mexicantown. The restaurants are the best. Make sure you visit Nuestra Familia at Vernor and Central....the real thing! Also, do some shopping at the Honey Bee Market. Great food at great prices. Don't miss this gem of Detroit!

As Canadians we cross over about 2 times a month to eat here. Sometimes with our kids and other with couples. Chips and salsa is one of the many favourites as well as fajitas. Large fajitas feed a family of 4 with left overs. I think it's canadian money at par on Mondays. Always get more chips and salsa for... More

So much to see as you wander around ... the groceries have ingredients that you will want to take home to cook with and there are restaurants and bakeries that will fill your tummies to the max. Great culture, safe to walk around (even with kids) ... so much fun!
