Mexicantown has authentic places to eat. It's that simple. For the average American, they'll never even see a "Mexican" in any of the franchised restaurants they think they're getting Mexican food from. I highly recommend visiting any of the restaurants and tiny shops and grocery stores here to get a wonderful cultural experience, and even try out your Spanish 101.

The drive to Mexican town took us virtually into Canad but there is no mistaking where you are when you arrive. The neighborhood here feels safe and within a very short 2 block area we had lunch, visited a gift shop, visited a tortilla shop and checked out a bakery. Everything was delicious and the presence of a security guard... More

We visited a couple of restaurants during a weekday for business lunch. I was surprised that how full they were. There was a wait that was too long, that is why I got to see inside a number of restaurants. I thought that the food and service was pretty good.

There are many restaurants in Mexican town that are phenomenal, and many of which are open very late. Mexican town is a great location to sit back and have a margarita.

We love to eat dinner at a different restaurant every time we go. However, we always skip dessert & head to the bakery on the corner instead! After we get our box (yes box!) of goodies from the bakery, we like to explore the craft stores. We also stop into the convenient stores which offer a large assortment of Mexican... More

My wife heard about Mexicantown so we thought that we'd check it out. Security is a concern in Detroit, obviously, but was relieved to see that the parking lots were filled with upscale autos and patrolled by private security guards. We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday night but they took us in. The service was fast and kind.... More

Don't miss spending a day strolling the streets of Mexicantown. Excellent bakeries, tortilla shops and wonderful restaurants. Great atmosphere and great fun. The gift shops have beautiful wares imported from Mexico. I love my huge Mexican sombrero. Enjoy!

The rehearsal dinner was held here. I don't understand why with a reservation booked with the amount of people that we had 3 tables, three servers, and 3 bills?
