I've visited Copper Harbor many times, but this last summer was the first time that I camped there. The area has very few established camping areas, as Ft. Wilkins was really the only choice. This is unfortunate, because it's really much too crowded to enjoy. My wife and I were tent camping, and we were one of the few tent... More

This is so worth the $9 per car fee to get into the park. The fee is good for other areas, not just the fort. There are many areas of the fort. When we were there, there were interpretors who were laundresses of the fort and we learned about their daily routine in washing soldiers uniforms. There was also a... More

The park staff are friendly and the volunteer camp hosts like Art are great with visitors. Kayak, bike, and hike all from here. If you go in August, there are tons of wild blueberries, wild raspberries, and wild thimbleberries!

We stopped here for a chance to step back in time. We have an ancestor who supplied the fort in the 1840's so it was neat to see what it was like back then. The fort is well maintained and the gift shop employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The creek make a great spot to cool your feet or hunt... More

It was Sunday morning in Copper Harbor and we thought about going to church - what would be better than to go to a "re-enactment" at the historic Fort Wilkins? We happened to be on our motorcycle vacation on the Keewenaw Peninsula while the fort was having a re-enactment weekend. This included church on Sunday morning. The little chapel was... More

Fort Wilkins is an interesting attraction. It is a largely intact fort from the 1800's. Its story is very interesting. Sometimes there are re-enactors you can visit with. Other times, you can just walk peacefully around reading the signs. It is a beautiful setting and interesting to picture the difficulties of living there in the winter.

Love this park. The west campground is great, very rustic, wooded. Stayed three days. Was there for the Copperman. As always, had a great time. Will definitely go back. Great for kids, families, couples just about anyone. Great for fishing, biking, kayaking, hiking or just plain relaxing. Highly recommend!

Although a couple of people suggested we check this out, we had not originally planned to stop here…we were glad we did! It is a very interesting historical place, and can be accomplished in less than an hour. It is in a beautiful location, and is a self guided tour. Definitely worth the stop!

We stayed in the two bedroom ADA camping cabin by the boat launch. The cabin is gorgeously situated on lovely Fanny Hooe Lake. Outside there is a short dock, a fire ring with benches, an outdoor deck with chairs. Inside there are two small bedrooms, each with a bunk bed. The living room has a full sized futon, a microwave, a... More
