Built in 1882, Tibbits Opera House features an exquisite, award-winning, French Second Empire exterior. It is among the oldest theatres in Michigan. Rich in history and ambiance, the theatre offers nearly perfect acoustics, an intimate 500-seat setting, and great entertainment year round. Shows vary from professional Summer Theatre, family shows, and an Entertainment Series of professional touring performers to community events, plays, musicals, concerts and variety shows. The building houses a permanent 19th century art collection and a unique community mural of "American Gothic." An art gallery exhibits shows by regional artists. Tours are available by appointment.

If you come to Coldwater make sure you stop at Tibbits. Tibbits is a 134 year old building that is slowly being restored to it's original beauty. This theater has almost perfect acoustics. There is no need to over amplified microphones in this place with sound levels breaking the sound barrier. Try to see one of their summer stock shows.... More

Wonderful old restored historic theatre. It is smaller than I am used to but that must be what was expected over 100 years ago. Usually, the offering is a musical. Nice sound.

Okay facility for a small town. Very expensive for the type of entertainment. Needs better seating and ventilation.

We attended the musical "A Chorus Line" produced by the summer theater group. This was our first time visiting and we enjoyed it very much. The Opera House has been under renovation for a number of years and there is still some work to be done, but is worth a visit just for the performance alone. I guess we were... More
